Yes thats the trendero, built by Dave Puhl when he was with trend customs. I bought it from the original owner. It never ran so when they were done showing it it just sat in the shop. its in pretty good shape

Amazing work. Congrats on the awesome result Mark.
This car, like Aaron's 'Atomic Punk' should hopefully inspire a whole bunch of new young custom car builders.

Just like everyone else, congrats on a really fine job. Heck, three years is lightning quick all things considered. I wish you were here in Houston for advice on my Venus build once in awhile. I am really floored that you painted it in your garage! Any ventilation? I'd love to paint my own car; would save me a pile of dough. I'm just afraid I'd fug it up.

If I may ask, were those the original hood hinges on the car? Any idea as to if they are custom or off of some other model car?

Again, great job! It looks small...can you fit into it?

Thanks man, your venus project looks like a challenge, it looks like you are doing a killer job so far. I dont know what the Dream rods hood hinges are (I am just happy I got em with the car. 1 less part to figure out) They are probably from a foreign car. lots of foreign parts on it, borgward rear window, opel rekord master cylinders and pedals, Jowett jupiter ch***is with vw front suspension.
Yes I painted it in my garage and I had an exhaust fan in the window, I like to paint in winter (no bugs) and the neighbors cant smell the paint because their windows are shut. had to keep turning the fan off bucause of heat loss which makes it hard to see what you are doing. there are some garage paint job related flaws in my car but overall it looks pretty good.

No I cant fit in the car, it is a little tiny thing inside

I've been following this scince its inception and that final result is STUNNING!!!

In the above quote you mentioned that it was never running....just out of curiousity is it now? (even stupider question) does it have an air cleaner?

(Just asking cause I honestly dont know how it was originally...)

Well you did a really great job with the Dream Rod, I hope I get a chance to have a look on the car at a show sometime....

The dream rod did run and will (I havent put any fluids in it yet). It never had an air cleaner there is about 1/2 inch of room between the carb and the hood when its shut.

I have the same problem with my dual Stromburg 97's set-up; have no choice but to run w/ screen inserts.

That's awesome Mark (your my hero !), how do you "force" yourself to get it done ? Like do you eat something that makes you a super man (spinich?) Do you avoid bad habits and live clean ? How do you do it ?, I need to know some of that to get my stuff done !

Hard to explain but here goes, some parts of a project are fun, like fabrication, research, hunting parts and re***embly after paint, others are not such as body work especially block sanding primer (it just seems to take forever). its easy to work on the fun parts but the others I had to make myself do it. I come home from work, go straight to the garage and not even go in the house till I had a good 5-6 hours in every night. works for me

Ok ... lets see- keep it fun - check, you need to be focused (go straight to the garage) - check, and lots of hard work - check. Thanks Mark !

  27. It takes dedication and attention to detail to get the restoration on a car like this done , especially when its had been changed from its original form. Nice job Mark!

    Hey Mark,
Truly a piece of art! Looks outstanding. You really are gifted. Can I stop by and see it sometime? My neighbor, Victoria and her son, Justin said you were very cool to them. They got a kick out of their visit.
