On the early Hemi, I’ll just got a set of heads the 555 ( 54/55 331 ) as it seems classic high perferformance trick. Not as I need the better flow (?) or think it gain something in reality for normal use but I read on them but hard to say what kind of valves or port work they used when they did flow up at +360 at 0.50”. That kind of impressing and totally outflow the 392 heads ( according as rhe std 392 was a hair over 200 cfm ) I think after reading the 354 heads was almost as good as 555 heads. I do know the 555 heads need a adapter to work for the intake ( on a 392 block ) I guess ’new’ ideas is keep the exhaust the same but use the 392 intake valves or even bigger 2.2” ? I has a 354 and a 392 block and the 555 heads ($) I has not decided what to do yet or use. To use the 555 heads might be a ( in-head number/idea ) as I fell its most bragging, but who cares 2025 not Mr Johnsson or Muhammed for that matter ( to be political correct ) Ideas.
I found this at Hamb, se piture but all info I had before it was told be 54/55 331 and the 555 heads or ’triple nickel’ had the casting number 1556157-1 ( as I got today ) and I know 2 locally has that head on a 392 block, and AI on internet also say its that number. But this ’source’ means the true triple nickle had the number 1555758 (?) -Ideas as just for the records.
354 heads In lemon accid after hot tank. I has bought a laser cleaner that I get soon. Now the 555 hies hot tank.
Yes it being made now then transport so maybe before christmas. Really in forward to it. I tested it on a block and I was amazed. Rockers out of hot tak, some rust but the laser its super clean. Normally I use lemon accid.
I think the dowel size is different too, from the 331 to 354/392. Do the 555 have exhaust crossover port?
Will check and come back. On the 555 number, I’m really suprice if the old Hamb thread/answer is correct I showed.
My source says 1556157 is correct, was thinking the 555 together was the right # but it's not in the refs. The '55 331 & 354 car hemis w/o valves you can look in the intake port & see out the ex port, but it won't run well that way. Might make a difference on a 2 stroke engine. In the Tex Smith book Garlitz said it doesn't make much difference so he doesn't bother changing them out, of course he could have been blowing smoke up our asses.
Well if one has a decent 392 std head and a good modify 555 head in flow bench it would tell, it must been done. But its street, non high RPM or blower on meth its not all the same. -The alu Hot Heads, did they copy the 392 or the the 555 head ?
I thought the "555" was at the end of the part number. I had a set about 20 years ago and I seem to remember it that way.
Guess a source rely on. See below. Same heads I bought and as I heard was the 555 or triple nickel. https://www.smithbergracing.com/iron-early-hemi-triple-nickel/
