A friend that used to run the original hillclimb put his 5 year old grandson in the red Austin Healey for a charity ride. First words out of the kid's mouth when it was over was, "can we do it again?"
I was up at the last turn before the finish and we all saw the little guy in the Healey. It didn't look like he could even see out! Great story. regards ken
I'd be interested in more info on this project, as nice as the North car is, an original Coupe version is my all time favorite Bugatti road car. Bob
I'd like to second the absolute NEED to see more photos and background on this car. It's amazing. Gary
Only thing I know about it was that it leaked oil everywhere it went. Had the course marshal real pissed off and he threatened to blackflag it.
^ Now that's funny. But you know what they say, two "5's" that are up are better than one "10" that's down! Gary
After the oil down, we were asked to do a "Recon" run to see where the oil was located, so that we could avoid it on the next hot run. The course workers did a very good job of cleaning up most of the oil before hand. Ken, Thanks again for the great photos. Looking forward to seeing more. Dave
Here is another cool shot of this special MG This Lotus Super 7 was driven very smoothly. It had a special DeDion rear with inline brakes. eac12 hc lotus super 7 070 lr kcv by karmakvisser, on Flickr This is the Airbox Vette, also owned by Mr Buck. Beautiful car and sounded great powering up the hill. Here is the Ford powered Amilcar
I was talking with David about this car. His dad collected Bugatti bits and pieces and cars back before they were such objects of financial desire. His was to collect and preserve and enjoy. The story as I know it is that there were 3 chassis involved and the return of 2 to their original configuration. This one was put together a beautiful sc motor. Its chopped, channeled and louvered. An that straight 8 thundered up the hill.
Well, you want to talk about an original coupe... Another one from the north collection is this storied gem Storied to be the Bugatti a French fellow was driving when stopped by the Nazis. An officer got in the car they drove off, he feigned needing gas and the officer got out of the car and he took off. He was later captured and killed but the car survived.
^^^^ Thanks, love to looks of the 57SC Coupes, had the pleasure of working on the ones the late Dr. Williamson had. Bob
Rare metal to have run your hands across. Amazing the craftsmanship that is holding up 70 to 90 years later. I put together my next blog for Velocity. http://blogs.discovery.com/velocity/2012/06/the-grand-ascent-hillclimb-2012.html#more meanwhile, here are a couple other shots. This double bubble Fiat Abarth was very cool. eac12 hc 048 abarth lr kcv by karmakvisser, on Flickr I love the lines on this Cistilia.
