I'm really surprised at how nice this original grill is. It's got all the stainless trim and the ornament on it that's still decent with the blue enamel!

They made good stuff back then......
Hey great find! If you can save the frame it's even better. What a start.
I don't understand why people get so secretive about what they pay for stuff, if you're happy with what you paid, great. Feel free to rub our noses in it - (or be embar***ed) What's way too much for one guy is probably chump-change for some others - what's the big deal.

I found the same thing 20+ years ago and that's what I did. car had the door tops and quarters finished with exhaust tubing and the doors tacked shut, channeled HEAVY with a plywood floor. put the stock floor back in, opened the doors with a hacksaw and put in another hinge just above the reveal. made my own top out of oak header and conduit covered in mesh wire.

been looking on and off for roof parts since then just in case... never happens. if it's good enough for the roof to be saved so can the floor. if its not the roof is too thin. going to finish her one of these days though.

Congrats. Not that my opinion matters, but I think you got a great deal at $6k Good luck with your search for a top. I'm sure with a little patience you'll find the pieces.

Great find, looking forward to seeing it built. They made an Elmore automobile back in the Br*** Car era, someone may have a radiator script out there. Bob

yes, they sell everything he will need to patch it up... but it was quite cost prohibitive last I checked. given that his car is cut above the door top and retains the windshield post makes things easier.

here is mine as it now sits... the carson top obviously not on it. don't have a great pic of that.

  16. image.jpg From the looks of the pictures there is a lot of tin around the guys place you got it from. Think outside the box. Not all ford 32s need a 32 ford top....

Since you are into it right to start with I would have no problem to buy the UP parts to fix it with. You will still be $$$$ ahead of what it is worth.....

Nice find. I wonder what's still out there and gets tossed because the family does not appreciate, or are aware of, what it is.
I bought a dis***embled Model T ten years ago from a surviving daughter. Took 6 days, with help, to extricate the car and parts from the garage, house, yard and ba*****t.
But in the pile appeared speed equipment from the 20's. Almost went in the dumpster.
Paid back purchase price in multiples.

A couple sets of 4 door sedan back doors could be had pretty cheap, cut down one set of door tops to make quarter window openings and stretch the second set with the leftovers to make coupe door tops, that along with that roof section could fill out the rest of the body. I actually had some extra roof pieces and 4 door rear doors a couple years ago, all sold now but that stuff is out there, this is a very fixable car without too big of an investment in parts.

That top looks good, but I bet it ain't made from a bunch of tin he found!

Yep, thats what I'm looking at, I think I'll be money ahead also to have new metal like that instead of repairing a bunch of old rusty 32 metal!

I think you're right... gonna save my dollars and hit Pate Swap meet this year, should be able to buy everything!

If you come across something let me know!!
