1436146273907.jpg Lol at the important notice. Funny really.. one of her fave foods is pizza. I can't believe how low that coupe is!!!

Also.. thanks for the kind of welcome back. Hambers digging my build mean I a lot.

Got the column out this week and started making room to remove the body. Also scored some lumber from work so I spent Friday cobbling a bench to mount some tools. Put the blast cabinet together a couple weeks ago. Coming to together now..:)

Got some A goodies I'm quite happy about. I plan on cutting the suicide front off because I don't want it that low and it's not era correct but the frame is nice.

I'll keep the kick up, reverse eyes and remove front leafs with the stock axle to get the initial stance. Going mechanical brakes too.

The A plan is coming together!!!

Another big day for the coupe. Banger is in my possession and it's crunch time to get it up and running.

Started planning where to take 3" out of the frame so the wheelbase will be 101.5. This should give me just enough room to get the head off if I need, center the rear tires, and look pretty good.

Markings on the kick up show what I will trim to clear the rear sub frame. Once I mock up the body I'll fab rear mounts donward so I don't have to cut such a nice body.

The banger is a fresh rebuild, touring cam, lightened flywheel, and v8 clutch. For now I'll run a stock carb, down draft next year.

Excited like a little kid I am. :)

I'm also on the lookout for some nice model a front hubs and drums if anyone has anything I can use.

    I like the banger.
It might be better & easier to C - notch the sub-frame inside the trunk than cut the frame crossmember.

Thanks man. I thought quite a bit about notching the sub frame. If the body wasn't as nice as it is I would. The thought of cutting it makes me feel bad.. hahaha.

  12. Cut that thing, yourll love it. :D
Once you start, it'll be easier.
Nice to see your still plugging away at it. I'm keen to see more. :)

Every hot rod t is cut , stand out from the crowd and stand tall , like T tall, be proud to be tall. Channel or Zee the frame to your hearts content .Keep the flathead so you can enjoy the drive at highway speeds.

1437835242681.jpg I'll trim for the frame but the top is staying tall and proud.

As of this week tires have arrived and I will be cutting the frame today so I can start mocking up.

Also another score. My girlfriend was nice enough to find a legit medical blanket to cover the seat. Looks like she is a keeper!

As of today my frame sits 3 inches shorter! Make up a few plates to box my seams and it's time for mock up. Damn I'm excited.

I really like this build. Still keeping the fenders? And count me as one of the weirdos that enjoyed the paint discussion.

I love tall T's and I love history, would kill (or at least maim) for a T like this. Kudos to you.

Thanks pumpman. It's been a while but I'm getting back in stride.

    Thank you.
First rendition will be no fenders. I have a look in my head for now. If I decide to do fenders I'm thinking about Model A. My friend whom I worked out with the trade with took my fenders. I'll be revisiting paint in the near future once I start scratching on it. Plan remains the same to preserve what I can. I've been experimenting a bit more and I'm quite happy with the results.

Good stuff, man. and thank you. Something is just too cool about a Prewar Tall T in my book. :)

Nothing new as of today... Cutting the suicide front, and collecting more hardware. Took my perch pins out of my factory axle so I can run the drop.. Those were some cranky little *******s!

    Well, another productive weekend.

After I cut off the suicide fronts I notice some loose rivets and a couple small cracks in the original crossmember. Considering this is much easier as a two man job I loaded up my frame and headed to a undisclosed location to meet up wither fellow hamber, Rogi / also a member of L.E.D.G for some help.

Rogi is pretty ******** into t's and is who I worked out the trade with for my ch***is. Great all around guy and it was awesome letting me back out to do some work.

After some sweat, grinding and torching we replaced a few rivets, tightened the others all the old school way, welded some cracks, and I'm still within an 1/8" square. Not too bad for my first time.

I also reversed the eye on the front, made some caps for the front out of s**** from the frame, added a brace to my seam then something I should have thought about caused me a whole day of work today.

In retrospect I should have shortened the frame between the emergency brake member and the rear taper. Then I wouldn't have needed to clearance the crossmember for the ujoint ***embly... Oh well, lesson learned, thought about, planned it out and started cutting... That's about it for now. I think I'm cruisin pretty good.

One small request, if when you post the pictures, select full size for the images it will make it easier and more enjoyable for those of us following your build thread. Thanks :D

They display small and we have to click on them and wait for them to open up, when posting it gives you the option to post them as full size images, then we can view them without waiting. It's not a big deal just makes it easier and quicker for us.

So.. after working on the frame I started thinking about my 16" wheels and how they weren't sitting with me.... Given it will be tall, with a banger, and mechanical brakes I felt a larger wheel would look more at home and be more proportionate to the roof so I decided to go 21" and pay a little homage to the first graphics I laid on a car in my teens with the color.

Digging the firestones too. :) 1438970348958.jpg

They actually mounted pretty easy using a garbage bag and one iron. Can't wait to set this thing on the ground!

While the girl is away on business the boys work hard on their car. Another productive weekend so far.

Friday night I mocked up the front axle and messed around a bit. Also took apart the rear spring. 1439129943354.jpg

Ready for ***embly. I cut the 3 I took out for spacers.

    1439129884282.jpg

Back together. I found using 4 clamps along with the rod mad the job pretty easy and a lot less unsettling considering the pressure of the spring.

Then late last night I enter my favorite part of mockup. That feeling when the tires hit the ground for the first time then you step back and take it in for a few. Man I love it.

The plan was just a little rake. When choosing tires I decided to run a 5.50 rear. When I received I thought they might be too big but man, I dig it and think it adds just enough hot rod stance to an almost prewar feel.

    1439130039480.jpg

    Love how it's sitting!

    1439130387489.jpg

Hopefully soon I'll have the body on so I can build mounts. Saving the driveshaft as the last fab piece so I can have some fun for a bit.

Gotta say after so many years of lurking on this site and waiting for everything to align so I can start building I'm quite happy to finally be at this point and share with you guys.

    Thanks man!

I can't wait to set the body down. Have to do a bit of clearance for the kick up but it should be pretty soon.
