there was one at speedy bills in lincoln neb., is it still there?
I saw 2 car in wichita, ks several yrs ago, they held the tucker
nationals in wichita near the airport and had a blue one and green
one. they fired one up and the owner took a young kid for a ride.
they said he was a tucker and that someone from the family always
attends the event. he looked like he was having a great time during
that ride. and man that car had a really unique sound.

This is a great thread. Thanks for starting it, and to all who contributed.

I guess we will always wonder what might have been.

For those who may have missed it, the Tucker Club of America site includes the letter that Preston Tucker sent to a lot of newspapers in 1948. It's interesting reading.

  5. I hadnt seen that letter before. Too bad he was up against such strong opposition!

  6. BTW, in case you're wondering whatever happened to that beautiful fastback coupe up in the corner of the ad-it was a quarter-scale model built by George Lawson in 1946, primarily of clay. Then it was photographed outside, airbrush retouched and cut & pasted in front of the Tucker family home in Ypsilanti, MI. I imagine that they thought that if they made the photo small enough in the ad that it would look real-it sure fooled me the first time I saw it.

Again...if you have even a p***ing interest in Tuckers, find the book these pictures are from ..." Design and Destiny: the making of the Tucker Automobile" by Philip S. Egan.
