well my new hot rod truck came today. It's one pretty son-a-*****! It went coast to coast at the front of an open car hauler so it needed a bath. The more I washed the prettier it got.

Ok we got it lookin' good lets check out the mechanicals. It doesn't seem to want to rev up nicely. It just feels raggedy. I take it up the street to clean it out some and it spits back through the carbs and bogs. I hit the brakes and they are worse than early Ford brakes. (F-100 fronts and Ford 8" rear) pedal is low and it drifts to a stop. Holy **** what have I got here?

It bogs and sputters so bad I can't pull out in traffic. I'll get run over. There is nothing more embarr***ing than a neat looking hot rod that barfs and falls on it's face. I put a vacuum gauge on it and it's rock solid so i feel a little better. I pop the cap off and the points barely open. I don't know Studes yet but I figure 16 thou ought to work for the points. It's better but it still wants to spit back. I loosened the dizzy and started cranking in some more advance. The more I cranked the better it ran. It must have picked up 250 rpm at idle. Now we're gettin' some where! I may have to move the dizzy back a tooth to get the vacuum advance to clear the intake but it's much better.

Now we can go. next we must stop. I adjusted up the fronts but it still wasn't right. I adjusted the RR waaaaay out but no problem but the LR star wheel won't budge. Pull the drum (brand new shoes) and fix the star adjuster. I don't think anyone ever adjusted the brakes on it. The star adjuster was completely screwed in and frozen there. She'll stop on a dime now! I'm very pleased with the brakes.

The F-1 steering box needs adjusting and the 97's need kits, but I couldn't be happier. I always enjoy the first day with a new to me vehicle finding and working out the bugs. I was worried at first but it's very rewarding to correct the neglected maintenance and bring the truck up to snuff.

Sorry if I bored you with this novel but it was a fun day and tech week starts Monday. Most of ya have been there and know the feeling. **** YEAH!!! [IMG]

really beautiful truck, great colors and stance, I like it a lot!

It's always interesting to get a hold of someone else's project, and improve it. Kinda makes you wonder how they dealt with it's problems... or if they ever did..

Yeah they called me to rub it in. I wanted to be there and had the roadster all ready to go. I really wanted to drive it sideways! Next year!

Tommy, you're not gonna believe this...I saw that truck Thursday on the hauler on I-20/59 headed north. If it wasn't that one it was just like it, one the front of the hauler and everything....

That was it. The driver stopped at his home in S. Carolina for a day or two. One cool thing... it pissed all over a bright red Viper underneath it. [IMG]

  13. Good find Tommy.
    Great little truck.

A day or two of tinkering and it'll be ready for those all important errands to the coffee shop, parts house and maybe even a free lunch now and then.

Course, next time it's a free lunch for your bud.... [IMG]

Yeah the 32 P/U is reduced for quick sale. You need a deuce parts hauler!

The new truck must like me. The starter bendix broke on me today but it was right in front of the garage. [IMG]

Put some pictures and the details on the '32 PU here. Might as well keep it in the HAMB family.
