I first read it at 6.8k. After reading your post I went back again (reading glasses on this time) and looked at Stogy’s screen grab. 6.8 million? Mercy.
Someone has a lot of line in the water waiting for just the right bite.

There is some Iconic Culture in the History and there was a connection to a part of the Art, Speed, Living Hard, sometimes dying Fast, or later after leaving a mark...I look at the art as influential history and know of a dark side too as you read about the man behind this lifestyle that has been played out over and over by many lesser recognized in the hobby...many were badasses...his art and name has become revered in the mass of memorabilia that represented a part of the Hotrod/Custom Culture...rebel of whatever, to me it's an artist + an eccentricity like Warhol...it is an interesting shop on wheels despite the mixed spirits and the price of what it is...and bodily fluids are a strange phenomenon of living space...whats in a name eh...grunge comes to mind...and Heck the Boss was in it 30 years ago...;)

It sounds in his case it was in a unit...a place you can call home...some here probably seen it in action, did he frequent the big car shows with that bus and what about Sunset Strip...did you see Roth's old sedan with the Head on top...different times...

I can see it in a museum for $100-200K, But the intersection of people who know VD's work, like it, can look past the man and have money like that to spend is infinitely small. It only tales one, but that asking price is going to be on the table for a every long time.

As a wise man once said, art would be so much more enjoyable were it not for artists.

I wondered about that as I've read through this thread.
    Depression or other psychosis maybe?
Autism / Asperger's Syndrome of some degree?
Dunno - I'm not a psychiatrist. He made some nice stuff and acted like a d*ck sometimes who had his demons to fight.

Some people are just azzholes. Feel free to ask anyone who knows me...

And I'm am am artist. Sometimes part of the artists' bent is being a little bit off compared to normal people. Not making excuses for vd, just sayin.....

It is now called Autism Spectrum Disorder, Level 1. The previous term no longer appears in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Revision 5-TR).

The previous term is no longer considered acceptable. Hans Asperger, it is now known, was a Nazi collaborator, performing gruesome eugenics experiments on children, in an effort to weaponize them for the Third Reich war effort.

All of those children were executed, in one way, or another, or simply did not survive the experiments.

I mention it, because that is what I have been diagnosed with, and I am Jewish.

Having been in that bus when he worked at movie world cars of the stars, he striped a car for us on the weekend when the museum was closed. If you needed to use the bathroom, you used his in the bus. Those pictures show a far different set up in the bathroom. Dutch had about eighty zillion switches and valves plumbed into the water delivery line. He refused to tell you which valve or vales to use. The result was turning on and guessing which really worked and which didn't. THEN, shutting off the water quickly when you were done so as not flood that small bathroom. All the while that little madman was laughing and ringing his hands. Interesting experience but not necessarily fun, but that was Dutch.
