Made some templates to cut out sheet metal. I’m going to box in my b pillars. Then I can add some structure to the rear half of the car.
Added more structure to the back half of the car. It’s a lot stiffer and the doors close better. Still have some final welding to do. Creeping up on it so I don’t warp things.
Made a template for a crossmember cover using the old parts. Next steps are to cut out the parts, bend and weld
One piece at a time man your gettin there! have you thought about running a vertical brace off your new pieces in the trunk up to the trunk lid rail? I think stock there’s a vertical piece from the subframe to the top of the quarter somewhere around the wheel well.

Took a break from welding and put my thermostats in and wrapped my steering wheel. I’ll probably wrap the gold spoke ends too. Just waiting to see how I like it .
Got more done over the past couple of weeks. I got my wiring more complete. I now have brake lights, tail lights, turn signals, and headlights (still need 12V bulbs...oops). I'm getting my trans tunnel done this weekend I hope. More progress...

Thanks, @Tim I like it. May need to see it with the 21" wheels on it as well... Yeah...that. At first he was very unhappy with what I had done with it, but I sent him some recent pictures and a video, and he was pleased with what I have done. I know deep down he wanted this to be a stock roadster, but it was so hacked up it was not to be. I took the car up to a body guy who's going to be building me a trans tunnel and plug the firewall. Should be done on wednesday next week. The drive was one of the longest I've had. Still have a charging issue. When I started the car yesterday, it was a bit slow, and when I arrived at his place, it wouldn't restart (dead battery). He put a charger on it, but I need to figure this out. I'm pretty sure my wiring is right, but maybe the generator just isn't up to the task???
Yeah Ive been half heartedly trying to get a model a a couple decades now. Model a purists act a lot like Corvette purists. Had a few model a guys get bent out of shape when they heard I was planning on hot rodding one lol
Man I had a car that just gave me fits with the generator so I feel for ya. Do you have a voltage gauge? I wonder if you can “bench test “ it. Lot of electrical stuff seems dodgy right out of the box anymore.
I did. It wasn’t good so I sent it to be rebuilt. Said it was good so I didn’t test it again. I will when I get the car back
Got my license plate mount installed. Also replaced the door rubber parts to (hopefully) reduce the rattle factor. And I have a firewall and transmission tunnel installed.
I found some ‘29 plates for the car. DMV said they were clear but they need to see them so I took a chance and bought them. Tomorrow is the day I try to figure out what is up with charging. I still think it’s not charging, or not charging enough. Plan to do a deep dive in the next couple of days
Floor looks fantastic! Who did that? do you have a before picture? I’m curious of what’s behind the piece by the pedals.
A fab guy in Santa Rosa. Does great work. The bump by the pedals covers the shift levers that stand proud of the floor.
