A friend called me Sunday night about some flathead parts that were for sale. I went over last night and ended up with a literal truckload of flathead engine parts. This stuff came from some old time flathead racers back in the 50's. I got a "99" block that has been ported, relieved, & bored to 3 3/8. A 4" crank, a dual carb offy intake, Offy cam (unknown grind at this time), chromed 97's on the intake, NOS 21A rods, stroker pistons, hollow adjustable lifters, aluminum flywheel, crab distributer - all the makings of a nice flatty. That's just the cream on top. I also got at least 6 sets of stroker pistons & rods, numerous crab distributers, valve train parts, a bucket of hollow adjustable lifters, plug wire looms, 4 - 94 carbs, 4- 97 carbs, 2 - late 1 1/16 venturi carbs, starters, generators, fans, oil pumps, and much more. Christmas has come early.
You lucky dog! And you're not that far away from me. I thought I was lucky to get a free block that was rebuildable.
May I be the first to say...YOU SUCK!! Lucky bastard. Gonna offer any for sale at any point? I'm plannin' a big one for my next motor. Might need pistons and lifters.
If it turns out there are any pieces for the "Old" flatheads, I need a valve train for a 21 stud. Alum heads are good too, like em shiny.
Now you know what the guy felt like when King Tut's tomb was discovered! Nice find and nice to see this stuff going to good homes rather than getting lost to time.
It will take me awhile to sort through everything and get the pistons together as matched sets, but I'll probably put some of it up for sale eventually. I actually only got 1/2 of the total stash. A friend of mine got the rest - several early performance cams, 4" cranks, good 59 blocks, etc. This place was a gold mine. Rodrelic, I don't have much for the early 21 stud flatty's, but I do have a NOS set of aluminum ford heads for the 37/38 21 stud. I might do some trading on these - PM me if you are interested.
You make me sick! Disgusting. And I thought I had good luck finding a complete '50 Merc motor. A minor good fortune compared to your amazing luck! Happy flatheadin'! pigpen
That's a great find. The luckiest I got is when a customer gave a 59AB complete engine. I had it sitting behind my shop for two months before I noticed it had a great 97 sitting on it. I took the heads off and it is a factory relieved block. You lucky dog!
