The Flatulant Flyer Update...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 63CadGuy, Apr 26, 2006.

  1. Well I thought I'd post a few update pics of my '56 g***er. I decided to go with steel on the front as I wasn't up to fabbing up the fibergl*** tilt frontend and having this car ready for the Back to the 50's show, so steel it is (anyone want to buy a fibergl*** frontend for a '56 chevy?). Got most of the trunk floor in and am just waiting for a filler neck I bought to arrive so I can get the gas tank in. Mounted the new piecrusts. After fabbing up the radiator core support to attach my new fenders too I found out that each one was different in a '55-'57 and I have one for a '56, so I might be picking one up this weekend or if I run out of other things to do I'll cut this one apart and make it fit.

Did I miss something here? You have one for a '56 but you have to cut it up to make it fit? The car is a '56, why doesn't it fit?

Love the Fentons by the way.

  3. I put in '56 by mistake, the radiator support i have is a '55 support and I found out that all three, '55, '56, '57 supports or at least the bar that goes across the top of the support and bolts to the fenders is different on each one, and when I was going to use the fibergl*** front clip I cut the ends off because I didn't have fenders to connect to, well when I decided to go back to steel I welded the ends back on and hung the fenders and found out that the '55 radiator top bar was about an inch shorter and the ends are angled a bit, so now I would have to cut it apart again and add an inch to get the front of the fenders in the right position to be able to close the hood. I found all this after I had already welded the thing back together.

  4. I was going to put that on the trunk of my car but my buddies don't really get it and are giving me **** for thinking about putting it on my car, what do you guys think, "The Flatulant Flyer" angled on the back truck, yes, no, stupid name? I think it's funny, but then I laugh at some of the stupidest stuff also.

    I like the name.

You need to find some new guys to replace the dumb guys you hang out with now.

A car like that deserves full 60s race graphics, including a car-toon-ish "Flatulent Flyer" character. I don't know if that would be a gaseous little animated car, or some kind of Roth-style monster.

Maybe get one of those magnetic decals they have today. Try the look before making it permanent. Cool name!
