At risk of this looking like spammin', the steering booklet that Vern Tardel and I have been "laboring" over for a couple of years -- the one you've asked about repeatedly -- is done, finished, completed, ready to mail! (Most of the time involved was in trying to get the kindly old printer off his meds and back into his shop, and then trying to help him remember where he put the disc and the pics and . . . oh ****! What a boondoggle. We finally started over, and with some help from 'just Steve' just last week putting a cover together, took it to another printer, and we have our clever and oh-so-helpful instructions for buying, servicing, adjusting, and modifying the right Ford steering boxes for all manner of Ford-based hot rods. And we tell you where to find the bits and pieces needed to make things right. 24 pages, 50 illustrations, $7 plus $3 S&H.

    Mike,

Awesome! I'm going to send Vern a check when I get home. Your timing couldn't have been better, as I'm just about to tear into one of those for my hot rod.

Is Vern planning any other books in the series? I'll buy 'em all :)

A Paypal account is in the offing, but for now it's cash, check, or money order.

New ***les are planned. The next one is "Ford Transmissions from the '30s and '40s" (working ***le).

This definitely looks like a "must have" supplement to "The Bible" (aka "How to Build a TRADITIONAL Ford Hot Rod"). I can't wait for the transmission one to come out.

  13. If I read the book in the mirror, do all the instructions work for right-hand-drive?

Where will I find a "ageV" box in Australia?

Not sure if they do, but if you read it aloud that way it sounds like you're speaking Swedish!

Are you sure that's not one of those odd Oz variants on a GM product -- what do you call 'em . . . HOLD-ONS? Sure isn't in the Ford family hardware pile.

Timing is everything. I will send a money order for two on Friday.

  16. Mike: if you guys get that PayPal thingamee sorted, I'll grab a copy then, outta curiosity, since the PO stings us more for the IMO than the IMO will be worth itself.

Thanks Mike, to you and Vern both. I was wondering when these were going to start coming out. As I've been in the hospital as of late this will be a great addition to my library. The doctor says," take it easy", so I guess reading is OK.

Artiki - mentioned to Limey that if we get a UK order together, I can get the shipping/postage reduced significantly. I know I want one, Kev wants a couple...so might be worthwhile to split the shipping (& I should be able to keep it close to the $3 Mike mentioned - depending on how many we end up ordering)

Nice. I've been told that the steering box on my car is in great shape. ('37) I intend for it to stay that way by keeping it adjusted and serviced. Also have half an F1 box (lots of the smaller bits were accidentally s****ped...damnit) and would like to know how many parts are available to make it whole again.

Are F100 boxes discussed at all in this book? Or has this already been covered and I wasn't paying attention?

Edit: Nevermind. I can SEE a picture of an F100 box in the picture you posted. Money on the way soon.

oh hell ya,,, something like this is timeless, and worth that kinda money hands down.

PMO is on its way first thing in the mornin...

  24. Peddro beat me to it, but seriously Mike, would any of it transfer across to Aussie i.e. Right Hand Drive rods?

I guess we did have RHD versions of all the early stuff, but ******ed if I know whether they used mirror images of the steering stuff.

Anyone out there know? Carps... Whodaky???

I'll fire off a check this weekend. You can wait for it clear if you like.

Mike, i was going to pick some up while i was there but Vern was clean out of stock & said it would be a day or two before you had a fresh batch.

I guess we'll go with Ernie's plans.......so you should hear from him soon.
