Looking really nice Stumpy...whats the plans? Lowered a bit with skirts and a hot blue flame? Did Olds have straight 8s?
Our family's '41 Pontiac Torpedo. It had a spotlight, so lightly customized? Next family car was a '52 Henry J, so another fastback.
@Orn...those are all awesome...fishtails really suit these beauties...you sure have a great handle on Vintage Customs...thanks for the Christmas Presents...
...This was a forgotten Fleetline...it was brought in by a fella I knew that wheeled, dealed and scrapped...wonder where it ended up? This was south Brampton in the 80s...I should have bought it...
No surprise as that was Brampton, Ontario, Canada...that of course doesn't mean it couldn't have been a Stateside built car. I do understand some models of the same brands are hugely different based on build locations though. It was one of Al's cooler hook ups he snagged...I should have bought it...I hope it survived...
https://mystarcollectorcar.com/june...atch-because-the-roof-line-is-a-little-older/ I believe there was one done similar to John Pooles 57 and may have even been a 55 Chev inspired and a 53 Vette as well... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/chevy-fleetline-concept-car.1010174/ ...this is a link to Thread by the Late Hamber "Preacher" on the 55 and Vette Fleetline which was apparently called a Corvair... The 55 was said to be a model...the 54 I shared is also shared...
Do you know The history of this Pontiac? My uncle in Airdrie, Alberta sold one very similar to that. One summer it was on the farm as he had bought it two or three years previous and my uncle was on the search for correct wheel covers. I found a set and as a surprise I took them out to him the following summer but th car was gone!
https://www.motortrend.com/features/1607-its-1954-at-the-new-york-motorama-and-corvette-is-born/ A Corvair like no other...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_Corsair ...I guess this one off helped influence the Fastback and many other things automotive...love it or hate it...personally I think it's quite a masterpiece in genius... I wonder if it had adjustable ride height as it looks like a cigarette pack crusher here...
I do know the history of this car very well. It was originally owned by our farming neighbours south of Lethbridge and driven until the flathead 6 broke a crank sometime in the 1960’s. It sat outside beside a shed and as a kid I thought it was a cool car. In 1973 my dad…who was a car guy…asked me if I wanted it and of course I said yes. Turns out he had already traded a John Deere stationary engine for it so now we had to tow it home. It has followed me around since then!
