    I mean… as your second car…
(don't kill me because the tag line is from the '65 model year campaign. I guess they wee technically released in '64 so I'm good... Ha Ha!)

    Happy Friday all!

    Hello,

Our dad’s love for Buicks started in 1946, when he bought his first Buick sedan. It was a 1941 used version, Fastback sedan. He drove it and all of us from the Oregon border all the way down the inland side of California to the sleepy city of Long Beach. When we arrived, it was an eye opener. From a forested country area in the far reaches of California border area to coastal Long Beach. Once settled in our small trailer, in a huge trailer park where some of our friends and cousins lived, our dad took us to the ocean front in downtown Long Beach. What a difference…

That original 1941 Buick Fastback was our first introduction to cars and Buicks in general.

It even followed us to our first house in the far reaches of the Westside of Long Beach, (Near Lion’s Dragstrip) where it was relegated to park out on the street for ease of access for our dad’s daily driving.

Over the next several years into the 1953 era when he decided we needed a larger house with a nice garage, we had several more Buick sedans. A black 49 Roadmaster and a two tone 53 4 door sedan. But, as it was during our teenage growing years, his blue 57 Buick Roadmaster was the one he liked driving the most.

First time in a nice two car garage:

To the last whole family vacation road trip in 1958 to Lake Crowley/Mammoth Mountain areas.

Our mom was on a real vacation, as she did not have to cook for several weeks!!! She just wandered out to the porch everyday to look at the surrounding lakes and forested areas.

So, as a tribute to the 1957 Buick style and our love for El Camino car/trucks, I used a 57 Buick Roadmaster that was our last family together vehicle. I made it into a pickup truck that would have served our hot rod/drag race build needs and later on, motorcycle exploration travel access in the back bed.

If we had built the red version, it would have been a show stopper for sure. The blue one was our dad's favorite color, so it would have hit closer to home.

Skylark Wire Wheels would add the classic touch to the custom build.

Assuming this is two pieces bonded together? That is at least how I have done this sort of thing. Looks good!

This is some artwork I painted a couple years back. I sold it at a local swap-meet as I do with most artwork,
I create. Thought I would put this out there for Father's Day!

  13. Thanks.
Two pieces bonded together, correct. Bottom piece is masked and painted two colors to correspond to top layer openings. Alignment during bonding process is always tricky.
