  3. IMG_0997.jpeg This week there was post on the antiquated forum about an old art deco travel trailer. (CHEVY57DUDE) Steve said, that it would be cool, if it could be made into a three wheeled Sedan Delivery. A Corvair mill helps to keep it low. This is my attempt at it???

    Hello,

In thinking back to our post 40 Willys Coupe C/Gas 671 SBC race car, the after math was full of different paths. One was to get right back into the game and select another car to put the powerful and unique motor in place for another shot at a record. B/Altered Coupe, B/Modified Roadster or even the motor in a full fendered RPU for the Street Roadster Class. All would have worked out, including another street legal car that would have been fast at the local So Cal dragstrips.

So, a 58 black Impala, a 1940 Flathead Ford Sedan Delivery and to add to the arsenal, a 56 Ford two door, also fast, two-three way possible street class racer, Bonneville class racer and dragstrip Gas Coupe. The 58 would go to our mom as she needed and actually liked the 58 Impala. I would take the sedan delivery and my brother would take the 56 Ford dual/triple threat sedan. That sounded good to me.

For the top adventures with the big names in the Cherry Avenue Drags activities, the 58 Impala could/would hold its own like it did. The sedan delivery would continue to serve our camping surf trips well. Now, for my brother’s daily driver, a fast Flathead Ford sedan… that would work, too. No one had an older Ford sedan for a teenage hot rod/cruiser. It could even be a show car with a few details added to the pristine black paint.

So, I drove up to Los Angeles to visit our friend, who was offering the Ford sedan to us as a means of staying involved in car activities, if not drag racing, perhaps El Mirage or Bonneville. The Ford sedan had just ended its career in racing at Bonneville, so now, it was a nice looking, fast street car. Our worried mom knew our friend in Los Angeles. She favored his opinion and skills at any car knowledge plus repairs. So, she was all for it, too.

On my test drive, the car handled well around corners and had plenty of power for acceleration up hills and steep grades. The car was super clean and did not have the “old hot rod/race car” smell. It was a very clean sedan. It was not loud, but had a good sound on idle and acceleration. Plus, it had that classic floor shifter sticking up into the middle dash area. Would my brother like it for his daily drives and return to college activities after the recovery?

Plus, we had mentioned that it had enough power to pull a trailer for our camping trips. The nearby location from our house, Kit Trailer Company had a small travel trailer just the right size for all activities.

    Note:
No, we did not get the 56 Ford Sedan. As nice as it was, it did not meet my brother's new direction in his recovery laden lifestyle. He was turning back to surf adventures, outdoors and desert motorcycle racing... The direction was endless, but at the time we did not know it and just let our lives move to the next phase of our teenage lives. YRMV

  6. An old doodle { A Uncertain Pickup } I was very excited to here about the Uncertain T coming out of hiding. It was one of my favorite show Rods as a kid. I like the imagination of most show Rods. 873.jpg

I don't want to cast sorrow on the FAS. Let's be lighthearted from here, shall we? Happy FAS!
