1963-64 Plymouth Sedan Gas Coupe/Sedan class Lion’s Dragstrip.


Hello,

After I filmed the All Gas Coupe/Sedan Class Drag Race Meet at Lion’s Dragstrip in 1964, there was one 63-64 Plymouth Sedan that competed against the Willys Coupes and Trucks for the best in class trophies. It seemed like the Plymouth was outgunned by sheer weight alone. 3100 vs 2300 lbs +/- but it was a powerful build.

So, with the dry lake bed so close to the greater Los Angeles area, there was plenty of opportunities to go fast using the modifications to the Plymouth sedan body. Lowered, full set of headers and a chopped top for better streamlining were some of the modifications.

Modified Dry Dry Lake Class + Plymouth Nomad Push Car.

But, no sedan was going to go as fast as a streamlined, lightweight sedan modified to make a Nomad style sedan delivery with a lower stance. Plus, no race car would do better than a real Nomad style station wagon push/tow car with all of the creature comforts necessary, especially, A/C for the hot climate areas.

What does the drag racer/dry lakes racer do for a weekend cruiser? When the season is over for racing flat out distances, a cool suspension, muffler modified street cruiser and surf wagon for long weekend beach activities. Plenty of space for storing surfboards and camping gear inside.

Plus, for the Christmas season, it is a nice attraction at the local Bixby Knolls Christmas tree lot for all to see...

A "Street Cruiser with a Rake For Attitude…" and the high school Christmas tree lot delivery service, plus tips, of course… YRMV

My first friday art show, this one.. well.. i love this roadster, that's the fact!

It's not the hot rod that made me felt in love with hot rods in the first place, But this one really ate my brain in a point that i have lots of open pages of threads from here that you guys talk about it and even not being the biggest roadster fan, i'd love to build a replica of it!

Nice and simple for today.

 

I was printing out a photo for my annual Christmas letter and the color ink nozzles on my printer clogged and this

Became this which I ended up using.

 

My paltry attempt at trying to get fancy with that timeless V8 logo.

There's one truck that almost nobody talks about but it's one of my favorite customs ever: the Wildkat!
I really wanted to do a tribute of that truck but with a few changes like putting flushed bumpers and small changes, that truck was awesome and i feel bad it was destroyed!
I'll redo this sketch someday and show the final product here.
