  4. The art is still great, regardless of the location! Thanks for coming back!

Looks like a winner no matter where it lands! I'm getting dizzy trying to confirm this. It looks like @themoose followed the instructions to keep the GREEN SIDE UP!

Thanks again to everyone for sharing their artistic talents in this little corner of the HAMB!

As far as I’m concerned you can complain as much as you want as long as you continue posting your wonderful ART!
    Thanks

Have a great weekend all. Still need to post old stuff until August.

Some of it’s really old… say 1981-82 but copyrighted (ish) in date shown.

Okay, I pretty much quit posting because I got tired of listening to what constituted art and what didn't. I see it still hasn't stopped but has extended to the "new" venue. guess I'll post some images that some consider "OT -on topic" and some that will be considered "OT - Off Topic". Art? I'm not even going into what is art or not. you be the judge,

  19. Anyone who thinks photography is not a form of artistic expression and, therefore, is not art, is simply mistaken and not opening themselves up to understand the skill behind the art of photography.
“The Golden Age of Advertising” is ripe with photographic images.

The staging, the lighting, the practical effects and those created in editing are all the same tools any artist uses to convey story, evoke emotion and stir up thought. All elements of art are contained in a single image if handled by a person with the creative ability to bring them out. Color, composition, balance, texture, a focal point, and ability to move the eye around the image… all are shared goals of any artist. @JBurt , @robber @A32Flathead @kenmo @Church, just to name a small few should never feel belittled about sharing their work.
It is a solid and true expression of fine art in the field of photography.

    OT

I have tried my best to be very objective and open minded to any and all observations in regard to the debate about true hand drawn art and artistic photography, as it pertains to this thread about the (FAS).

That being said, what I am posting here, is not to be taken as a gripe or complaint about where the (FAS) wound up as far as the category its now listed under.

The artwork I did for years was primarily Aviation related as it was what I did best. There are many contributors here, that also appreciate Aviation, but that being said, I will try to stay focused on automotive art.

I have contributed a variety of automotive art pieces how ever limited the content may be, I have taken the time to draw line art in the style that I can handle. Because its based on my photography.

I have also contributed a lot of my photography of hot rods and various other classic automobiles as well.

What follows next, is interesting to me, and hopefully to you all as well, purely from my view point of what high quality line art is, from the various artist listed in the credits to this great book, by Sedgwick, and a couple of shots from the other book of cutaway drawings, which are great!

    IMG_7033 (2).jpg IMG_2580.jpg IMG_7034 (2).jpg IMG_7036 (2).jpg IMG_7038 (2).jpg IMG_7039 (2).jpg IMG_7176 (2).jpg IMG_7042 (2).jpg IMG_7041 (2).jpg IMG_7069.jpg IMG_7066.jpg
I go to these books, when I need to see what great line art is and how others have done it. There is a lot of ways to do it.

I say that, as this type of illustration is very clean and precise, so that isn't taking anything away from the great artist's and photographers on the (FAS) that are amazing!

Just to name a few, @Jeff Norwell @JBurt @themoose @Stogy @49ratfink @rusty1 @Jigger @robber @Jalopy Joker and a lot of others that are very talented, on a variety of different levels.

Whether its line art, or photography, the contributors to the (FAS) are some of the best photographers and illustrators that I have had the pleasure to be associated with, and to add my attempts at photography and line art as well, to the (FAS) thread.

I totally agree with the statement by @Jigger
    Thanks from Dennis.

the fun thing about the "photography is not art " crowd is they could not think of, or reproduce these two "not art" photos I posted over the last few months. these were car show photos, where you do not get to position the car so the sun is in the right spot, you have no control over shadows, you get people, lawn chairs , coolers etc in your shot.
I have a very basic photo editing software, not much better than using "paint" that comes on many computers. it was $40.00 after a rebate.

    04-04-25.jpg 05-09-25.jpg

even this "snapshot" I started with has things done to it you cannot detect. I consider this one art as well.

Thanks all for the likes. Sorry about the rant. Actually, no I'm not.
41 GMC K-18 (Dennis) Thanks. We've been here before. and the feeling is mutual.

I admire and respect all aspects of art and the art presented here. I check the FAS almost every week. I used to draw and paint until my Parkinsons made it to difficult. I designed for Theater, TV, and Movies also and when my body began to give way I expanded my photography work. I still shoot but my eyes had deteriorated to the point I couldn't sit at the computer to work my images. I've recently had some work done on my eyes so hopefully I'll be back at it soon.
All this rambling is not for pity but to suggest if you want to create, you can find something and it can be artistic. Just Go and do.
