Nice! I also build scale models here's a Deuce Roadster that i got 3 ideas and well.. i didn't touch it fot a long time. By the way, is there any scale modelling thread on here? If so, i would be glad to show more of my models in progress!
Here's some old ones i did years ago (2nd gen ford f series edition). the first one it's a Roth's inspired, gotta love these second gen Ford F-series trucks, for us brazilians we got them as '57 to '61/'62 (the '53 to '55 models from you guys is the '57/'58 for us, for '59 to '61/'62 is the '56 model from you guys), unfortunely we don't got the big window version down here but they look perfect to me. Happy friday art show!
Thanks to everyone for sharing your talent with us again this week! I'll go along with 41 GMC K-18's count of 11 aliens this week, plus the flying saucer and the AREA 51 brick. The crew in the flying saucer is on their way to rescue one little guy who got caught sneaking around near Guthrie, Oklahoma. It looks to me like @guthriesmith put the squeeze on him! Coincidently, this poor little fella looks just as upset as the one that @rusty1 left in the tree for us last week. I'm pretty sure that this one is a clone of the one we found last week. Please take a moment to remember those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
So we have made a decision.. we are moving the FAS to the Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs thread... where it will remain open for all to view and post your Hot Rod Art. The thread will be pinned for about a week and then released.. but not not locked. You now can post work of off topic AUTOMOTIVE work there and it will remain open. Just keep it cool and of course NO Nudity or Bad Taste work..... so continue to post your drawings,Photos, sculpture ,etc, etc there. Thanks to All.
Well, definitely the end of a particular era, and the beginning of a new and different era for the ( FAS ) !
I agree Dennis. It seems to me this de-values the FAS by relegating it to one of the lesser viewed "step children" forums...most members seldom even look at this forum. Curious what the reasoning was.
there will be a great new opportunity here for everyone, there are no more year or styling constraints (I had to delete several entries this week for being "off topic") there will be no more moderation of the posts and all we ask is no nudity. as far as the traffic over here, you would be surprised at how busy it is. this post will stay up, feel free to add art anytime not just on Fridays
There is nothing devalued here.. we just have a ton of folks that post up art that doesn't comply with the main board rules. This section of the forum draws a ton of traffic. and if someone wants to show a piece of art that represents something past 1965 or newer here is the spot..... just giving a section for everyone. As Mark stated,.. just no nudity or graphic material.. we are good.... Lots of room for everyone. Post up your work and keep the thread alive.
In my case. things like this.. Which I would have never posted in the past because of the subject. now its all good! @hotrodjack33
Hey @Jeff Norwell @hotrodjack33 @Moriarity I am really glad that there have been some follow up comments about the new home for the (FAS). I too was a bit concerned that something of a drastic, artistic flagrant violation, was what prompted this action to be taken. To me, the participation weekly on the (FAS) is like a great family doing a weekly show and tell, to a vast audience. I may be a bit biased, but as many have indicated, people really look forward to the various contributions, from the people that post their work on the (FAS) ! So confidence is high, that the (FAS) will be discovered by the many that love it, and now in essence, the training wheels are off and now a new type of artistic freedom of expression will be displayed! Thanks to all that are mentioned here, and to all of the regulars that contribute weekly! Thanks from Dennis.
I'm not an artist, but I've enjoyed the FAS since it's inception many, many years ago. I'm glad it's now here on the OT Forum so it can be expanded beyond it's limitations on the main board. However, I hope it doesn't get saturated with too much OT stuff, and it's original spirit is kept alive, which I'm quite sure it will.
Hey Jeff. I have a question. I would assume that with this modification, there would not be a need to start a new (FAS) thread each week, that is specific to the week, as it pertains to the calendar ? I hope that makes sense? So I would assume that going forward, as far as posting on the (FAS), it will just be accumulating pages as time goes by? Thanks from Dennis.
Hey @Jeff Norwell @Moriarity I totally get where Jack is coming from, the way the (FAS) always was, it was just a well known rule as to what it was all about, sure no doubt, it drove the Mods crazy having to always police the content, and delete the stuff that was OT, and that produced a lot of clutter. To be sure, by moving the (FAS) to the OT section, there will be a period of adjustment no doubt, such is the plight of change and the opportunity's to see and include other elements, that were not allowed on the (FAS) as it was originally! Consider the plight of a art Museum director, as to what can be accepted to display in the Museum, and what doesn't get accepted. Imagine telling Jackson Pollack that his work is too controversial, but not having a problem with Salvador Dali? You can see where this is potentially going, but as stated, this is change, and I am hopeful that it's a type of change, that will be of a positive nature! Those in the know, and that are contributors to the (FAS), will be watching, how this will all evolve! Thanks from Dennis.
yes , there is no need to start any more new threads, this thread right here will remain open for future posting
Ok. So to all posters, shall there be an unwritten rule to post new stuff every friday as in the past to make it easier to keep track. What do you people with talent think?
Hey @wfo guy I think @Moriarity pretty much summed it up, the (FAS) will now be an open thread, that doesn't need to be started new each week, it will just be a series of continuing pages to this thread, in this forum, that wont be locked. So none of us will have to be up early in the wee hours of Friday, like we all have been in the past years, trying to get our creations seen by all that love the (FAS). And we wont have to wait for the thread to be started by the Moderator. Granted it will take a bit of time for all us to get adjusted to this new way of enjoying what was the "weekly" (FAS), well now considering the changes, it will just be the (FAS). "Everything old, is new again" Thanks from Dennis.
I think a permanent thread will end up getting watered down. I hope it will still be a once a week =Friday stand alone that could be pinned like it is now, then cleared each week and started over each Friday. Even if it is moved to the OT category. JMHO as a no talent observer.
There was a thread for a while, that was kind of like the (FAS) it was a thread that was on Saturdays and it was art related prints and so forth about cars and On Topic hot rods etc, etc, and it was very similar to the (FAS). I used to contribute to it, but it eventually got taken down, because it was taking up too much bandwidth on the servers, and it was basically a kind of a duplicate of the (FAS) and I totally understood the move of why it didn't last. Quite frankly, I am amazed at what all it must take for @Ryan to keep the H.A.M.B. afloat when it comes to astronomical amount of material that is preserved and never deleted, and the servers it must take to store it all. Will the (FAS) get watered down? Hopefully not! I think Billy Bean from Money Ball said it best, but in all honesty, personally, I don't nessesarily agree with Billy Beans solution! Everyone's results may vary greatly in regard to the new home of the (FAS).
