Pretty amazing that pattern on the inside of the Vernon Royal Line ledger note book that you have drawn on, that pattern is cool in its own right! Almost looks like a vintage fan blade.

    Hello,

The busy Christmas season is over and we are all still in some recovery stage. The family gatherings are always a joy to see and be a part of in these "old folks" stages. We were once young back in those days and today, time has flown as fast as a “rocket to the moon.”

Wow, “Rocket To The Moon” was a new ride in 1956 at Disneyland and time has changed the whole concept as it moved on in history. The Moon was unreachable in 1956, so it was a destination for the future. The timeline moved on in everyone’s history, so by the time our son was old enough to go to Disneyland. It was “Rocket To Mars.”

Now, it is a pizza restaurant and spinning rocket ride like other amu*****t parks.
upload_2025-12-26_4-38-58.png Old Hot Wheels gives one a base at which more details have replaced the toy. Memories from those old days of real hot rods comes into play for the current ideas and artwork.

The Red 1932 Ford 5 window A/Fuel Coupe above has been in and out of the drawing board. Sometimes it needs work, sometimes it gets too much for the moment and then it is shelved for another day, or two.

The good thing about art is that it is endless as to what it can be. A simple three window Ford looks funny when drawn several times. But, the Ford 5 Window Coupe can be a stock body, full fender model or the ideas learned over time. Different models of this Ford Coupe can be adjusted to create what may have been a cool hot rod or fast drag race coupe.

upload_2025-12-26_4-41-59.png This one has been tossed around for many years. Sometimes it looks fine, other times it is off key and needs something else. It has been turned into a station wagon and a panel truck for those coastal beach days. With an endless supply from the miniature custom auto parts files still waiting to get out in the open for another hot rod or custom.

My first 5 window coupe turned into a station wagon, a panel truck, a fender less pick up, and a rare 32 hot rod woody. Each drawing has been shoved to the back of the files and as I peruse each one when I scroll through the file, I seem to get a notion to finish one or the other.

The latest track is to convert this fender less coupe into a fender less “Fuel Altered” model. Different wheels, different level of chop or no chop, depending on how it looks proportionately, etc. And, of course, "RED" for the season...

Artwork is fun and very time consuming, but exciting when a design starts to work… YRMV

    upload_2026-1-2_3-57-0.png 1964 Plymouth Sedan

    Hello,

When we were cruising around in 1963-64, my 1958 Impala had a modified 348 motor, with a Racer Brown cam+ lifter kit, C&O Stick Hydro, ported/polished heads and at least 300+ hp at the rear wheels. Speaking of the rear wheels, a 4:56 Positraction gear set was in place for those quick start line get aways. Those gears were only in place for specific cruises to well known street race car locations... just in case...

There was not one street encounter against hot 55 Chevy sedans, 57 Chevy sedans or any hot rod cruising in our area of So Cal. south and east of Los Angeles. When we drove 50 miles to the local beach towns, there were fast cars, but not as fast as my 58 Impala. So, we were wondering where all of those hot Plymouth and Dodge Sedans we saw at the drags and in the Drag News weekly papers were cruising?

    upload_2026-1-2_3-59-58.png
At the drags, when they came up to the line, the powerful motors sounded like an Altered Coupe or at least a modified motor for the Gas Coupe cl***. The only one we saw in compe***ion was in a Gas Coupe and Sedan Cl*** race.

So, where were they on the street? We drove up to Harvey’s Broiler and saw one sitting in the rows with a tray of food. When they were finished, they started up and “revved” the motor, idled back and out past everyone else. As he got to the driveway, he accelerated with some authority and left. Did it sound good? Yes! Would it have been a close race? Yes, but he must have seen all of us sitting in our cars and not one nod to race… He definitely would have the advantage, but the Plymouth sedan just accelerated down the street for the evening.

So, in reference to that encounter, I decided to make it into a powerful Nomad Style Station Wagon. Lowered and ready for any action. Plus, it could always use it to go to the surf spots with a surfboard inside as they were getting shorter in 1964. YRMV
    upload_2026-1-2_4-4-18.png
The motor would still be the race car build sounding engine and with the added look, a true cruiser.

But, a few more modifications and it turned into a fast chopped custom car with a low slung at***ude for street cruising and other “temptations…”
    upload_2026-1-2_4-6-6.png
    So… “Get ready… here I come…”
