The Friday Garage Crawl

Discussion in 'The 2024 Lone Star Round Up' started by hot-rod-1958, Mar 7, 2024.

  1. Well folks it is time again for the Lonestar Roundup Garage Crawl.
Mark your calendars for the morning of Friday April 19th as we hit the road to visit some cool places. This year we will begin just west of Austin in Dripping Springs. We will gather at "Speeding Springs" located at 7100 Creek Road, Dripping Springs, TX. The staff at Speeding Springs will open their gates at 7:00 am for garage crawl participants. If you arrive early, PLEASE don't block the gate as we will have service vehicles, vendors, staff (and me) arriving before 7:00 to get set up. At this time, I am in the process of securing a food truck/trailer (hopefully more than one) for breakfast service at our start point. I will update this posting as soon as I have a food vendor. FYI...This location is beyond amazing with the facility and autos on display.
We will have a brief driver meeting at about 8:15 where the tour route will be presented, and we will saddle up and hit the trail at 8:30 am. I currently have several stops lined up (working on more as always) and the crawl route will take us east towards Austin.
Everyone is invited to come along. You do not have to be a registered participant for the 21st Roundup to be on the crawl. Please NO PETS on the crawl. Well behaved/restrained children are welcome to tag along.
Questions about the crawl can be directed to me at (512) 496-8658 or markgus@austin.rr.com. Please note that the crawl route or stops will not be shared prior to 4/19/24 at 8:15.
Drive safe and see you soon!

UPDATE... The crawl route and stops were finalized this morning (4/10/24). We will have 6 stops on the crawl this time and one location has 3 buildings to check out. I have secured a food vendor that will be serving inside the main building at Speeding Springs. They will have a variety of breakfast items and beverages. The vendor can accept cash or cards.

Please post lots of pictures for those from a far away land that can’t make it this year. Last year was an outstanding garage crawl.

Mark you don't know how much we appreciate you taking this on every year and doing such a stellar job. The only thing that bums me out is I never get to go. One of these years I'm gonna play hookey and disappear from the Expo Center and come join the crawl. Thanks again for all you do.

  7. Glad to do it buddy. Never thought it would be this popular or get this big when I stepped in to help. Wow. I'm really glad folks feel it is one of their favorite parts of the whole event.

  9. Man, bums me out every year that I can't make it. Mark does an amazing job coordinating my favorite part of the LSRU. You all have fun and someone post some pics for those of us that can't make it. :D

Speeding springs looks an impressive setup. Do they build cars or is it a private collection?

It’s a whole mix of stuff. That main barn is a sales floor, with all those cars forsale. Justin of circle J upholstry is part owner, so he’s got his upholstry in one of the buildings. Pretty sure they restore cars too.
