The other thing I figured out was what kind of bed I will be running. This is what I have in mind. Mine will have a tailgate, but other than that, it will look very similar to this. One thing I have wanted with this build is flush fit doors, I don’t like the quarter inch over lap, by building integrated sides, the leading edge of the sides will **** up against the trailing edge of the doors giving me flush fit doors’ at least up to the centre swage. There was a limited run of 1931 Model A Deluxe Pickups that released with these wider beds.

So in short I will be resuming where I left off last month, by finishing off the guttering, then moving onto the framing in the roof. In order to fund the purchase of the front end, I have a 27 T Roadster Pickup Cab, 29 Model A Roadster Pickup Cab and 29 Chev Pickup Cab, that I’m piecing together to sell off over the Summer break. If I call sell all three I will have the funds for the front end as well as a nine inch diff. That’s the plan anyway.

No way could I hit the like ****on. I can understand that sometimes Mother Nature wins. Rust:mad:. Mother Natures way of returning items back to the earth. At least you can harvest parts to make your build better and easier:cool:.

    Hey Guys.
I found a more modern image of the bed. I don’t like the way the sides are lower than the centre swage of the cab or the way the leading edge falls short of the trailing edge of the doors.

I mucked around in the photo section of my tablet and came up with this.

I’m not sold on how much realestate there is between leading edge of the fender and the leading edge of the bed. I’m wondering what would happened if I shortened the wheelbase by ten inches.

    Hey Guys.

Things have been quite of late with work, but I haven’t dropped off the radar. I picked this up from the post office today.

I made the decision some time ago that I would not be running the 34 hood on the truck. I already had the upper halves of a 32 hood that I had bought off a local rodder at a swap meet for $50 years ago. And that began my journey to collecting a whole bunch of 32 stuff, including a commercial grill shell, roadster pickup cowl, rough front fenders and running boards. The truck I purchased in 2017 did not have a grill, fenders or running boards so I was going to use the 32 grill and fenders and search out a set of sides for the 32 hood top. I ended up buying these.

The firewall was also purchased from the same owner. While these sides are good, they were designed for a one piece top and would require too much modifying at the top to fasten into the hinge ***embly of the original top, so I kept looking for stock sides. Being 32, the few times I would see them listed, they were too expensive. But a couple of weeks ago this pair came up, the price was right and I contacted the owner straight away.

They far exceeded my expectations, not bad for $300 plus the $70 postage. I’m not sure if they are original or repro ones, but they are rock solid.

So I now have a complete stock 32 hood and this is what will be sitting in front of it.

At this stage it’s looking like the only thing I’m keeping from my old truck I bought back last year will be the cab, the front bumper and headlight bar, everything else is too damaged or missing to use. It never had a windscreen frame or cowl vent the first time I owned it, so I’m pirating cowl vent and windscreen frame out of the truck I purchased in 2017. It did have a nice hood, but that went missing when it went to Sydney. I’m also using the frame off that truck as the one I bought back last year has severe corrosion from sitting like this for 34 years. While the canopy saved the cab, the water running off it, ended up hitting the front of the frame and fenders. I will try and save the fenders, if I can separate them from the frame, as for the running boards, the one on this side is completely gone. Luckily I have a mint pair of commercial running boards I can use.

With a complete 32 hood sorted, I will try and move on the aftermarket 32 sides. Since they are designed for a one piece top, I’m looking at making a one piece top in two halves welding them together and running a stainless steel trim section like this one. I’m still out of pocket for the transportation costs to get the old truck back to me last year, so any surplus stuff I can sell will go towards a front end for the truck.
