I have no affiliation w/ Varla and frankly, have only looked at the magazine a few times. That said, you totally lost me here. Pretty Rockabilly/Pin-up girls are pretty Rockabilly/Pin-up girls. It's not like there's the Victoria's secret version, then the Hustler version. The pretty ones are all the same. Bangs, tattoos, little old timey outfits, the list goes on. There's not 10,000 of them out there.

Maybe you could elaborate on what, exactly, it is you're looking for? Girls on cars? Girls w/ longer bangs? Girls w/ shorter bangs? Less tattoos? More tattoos? Tattoos of midgets riding donkeys...

If you're just talking about pretty, natural girls, I'm with you. Especially ones that are really dirty like in Hustler

I love to see pictures of pretty rockin girls,i love the old time look and glamour of the 50's they bring.Thats not to say some of them wrench on their cars(real respect there).It must be difficult for the ones that do wrench and dress up but these girls go with the scene,hell we have a few of them on the hamb and god knows i respect them too.I'm sure if the girls see a guy they are into they wouldnt mind a few photos to pin up.Best of all i love to see a pretty rockin girl driving an awesome car she built that does it for me.......Marq

I'm trying to avoid making similair comments...
In my opinion, the girls of Varla look a little rough-their are exceptions but most of those girls are MODELS-they look good for a living. They're not some dude's girl they threw in there so she'd stop bitchin' about him taking pix of hot chix.
I don't really care if she could build The Mysterion from scratch with tin foil and bailing wire-does she look good? Cuz it's about fantasy,really...

 

if a magazine was produced like this it would need to be a quality printed and photographed piece...that would make for a good coffee table book...like the rodders journal. There are too many disposable mags these days...

 

Hey if they are into vintage tin and sleds that roll or cruising around in my custom and they have tattoos all the better if she's a REDHEAD Dame,Betty then I would let her pee in my face just to see where it came from ....
Something about those natural reds,bottled is ok too but the gals are worth it and kool if they are into old iron not many chics are these days with the bullshit cars on the road.My daily is a 58 belair 2dr and it get some looks going down the highway.Just wish I dame to cruise with.....

I have a snowboard magazine that's done like that. I pay like $15 or $17 a piece and have no second thoughts. The others that run monthly and run like $5. I pretty much never even look at them anymore.

Beautiful women are beautiful women, with or without bangs, tons of red lipstick and tatts. Personally I would like to see a bit more of a natural trend. Normal sized breasts that aren't all squeeshed up in some ugly shapeless padded bra.
I am not against tasteful tatts but I think the half shirt thing is too much.
Thanks for the shots, still some fine females, so matter how you decorate them.

Are any of you really interested in this as a side project? I have mag experience as a feature writer-I know we have others here with backgrounds. Might be a vanity project, but what the hell! I think we've already done the test marketing by posting this 2x with over a thousand responses, Bradberry has some sweet layout ideas and we already have a title. Let's roll while the momentum is high!

While Varla and Barracuda are both fine mags, thet are a bit g-rated. Think Perfect 10 with rods and customs..the guys will never come out of the bathroom You have to find your niche.Plus I would like to see some ta-tas

We have a couple great photographers that would be down. A couple of good designers. Some artist. Lots of hot rods and I'm sure if I can supply....say 5-10 girls right now I'm sure we can get enough..haaaa.

Oh...nice go at the cover...we might have to fight for that job.

 

Format-wise, I could see a little more sin (oopps, skin-freudian slip) along the lines of Easyrider/Tailgate/etc. but never 'hardcore'(ie no close-up genitalia shots). I'm thinkin' Playboy/English 'lad' style magazine lay-out...
definitely keep it primarily pictorial-men are visual creatures and if we wanted to read,we'd subscribe the The New Yorker!
So far we have someone interested on the west coast, myself in Central Texas, and a guy in England, we could use maybe some east coast representation, and I think it would totally rock if we could get some of the Euro and Japanese guys to contribute....
