the goodwood festival of speed

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by surf monkey, Jul 4, 2009.

  1. me and paul travelled down the 100 miles or so to goodwood yesterday...this was our first visit to the festival of speed and we certainly weren`t disappointed...at goodwood you get to walk around the paddocks and see ( and touch) the fanatastic pieces of history before they then head out onto the track for a blast up the hill...

a few famous people were there that we saw, jay leno took an old jag up the hill...formula one star david coulthard, rally drivers arri vaatenen and stig blomvquist also took part...jesse james took his baja racer up the hill and didn`t hold back even on the tight bends...peter fonda was reunited with captain america and took that up the hill too...

loads of pics, only one hotrod was there but the rest more than made up for it

here we go then loads of pics in no particular order, sorry for the quality i`m a crap photographer

worst part of the day travelling home...113 miles ...five and three quarter hours...if you ever come to england avoid the M25 like the plague

I use to go to this every year. One of the only places you can get up close with the drivers and cars. Plus the weather is normally good.

  8. Great photos. Thanks so much for letting us enjoy all the aspects of the auto hobby.

  9. Nice stuff Tim, was looking on Flickr at some other stuff this morning from there, looked great.

I used to Marshall there before moving here, talk about variety, where else will you see everything from horse drawn buggies to cutting edge F1 in the same place, and EVERYTHING in between!

THE coolest show, period. Won a prize there 2001 with an ACDelco sponsored prostocker. Performed burnouts during three days and it rained heavily on the first day so it poured out mud from the rocker panels...

I grew up there and spent many days as a gopher in the pits for legendary teams and drivers. Got my first ride in a Ferrari - a 250 GTO at Goodwood and then on the open road up the hill to the horse racing track and back to the motor racing circuit. Aaaah nostalgia - a thing of the past...

    Thanks for the thread.

That's a rare Bugatti you won't see at many meets a Type 54, has the big Type 50 engine in a Type 55 chassis. Two of these engines were to power the Bugatti airplane. Thanks for posting the photos![IMG]
