Was this the one that a group of volunteers who met on tuesdays restored for a museum in MI. a few years back? If not has it been restored/svaed by anyone else?

  2. Only problem with out here on the east coast (at least where I live) all the hillbillies dont and wont ever sell them. They just sit there and rot away and they never do anything with them. They have the right to not sell them though, it's all theirs but still... I know of an old 32 Chevy sedan under a carport in perfect condition, just very dusty and even still runs with some work. The old lady said her husband is going to fix it up one day but just can't find the parts for it. They look to be in their 80's and it's still sitting there 7 years later. I want to stop by again and if she says no then I will give them my card with a price on the back. Maybe they will change their mind. I know of a lot of fields and woods here with old Buicks, Fords, Mustangs, pickups, Oldsmobile's, Pontiacs,Cadillac Hearses (sp), etc. Guy is an ass and wont let you go back there to look and wont sell any of it (probably 80 cars and trucks back there) and he throws old engine blocks on the roofs of them to damage them so noone asks to buy em I guess. A lot of the cars are decent and the trim on them are totally nice.

  3. Yeah, its been restored.I saw it at Charlotte Autofair.I think last year.

The story that goes with these is even better than the pics. My former co-worker owns a little over 1000 acres about half way between Chicago and St. Louis. One day at work, he tells me about these cars (that he himself had not seen since 1980). Well I bugged him about them for a year until we finally went to look at them in April of ’08. The story he told me is that his grandfather bought some land back in the 50’s (part of what is now the 1000 acres). Sitting on the corner of the land purchase was an old run down gas station with a bunch of “old worthless cars” sitting around the station. Well they leveled the gas station and pushed these cars off into a ditch that used to be part of a small dry creek. The ditch is about ¼ mile off the road and NOBODY knew they were there except him, and now me (and now all 50,000 of you haha). He told me that over the years they had hogs in that part of the property once in a while and they had rooted around the cars and covered them up, uncovered them, etc. and not to expect much but he would take me out there. I was still excited so we finally went down to see them. When I say down, I mean that we drove out over some small roads, down some gravel roads, got out of the truck, walked through brush for over 1000 feet, tied a rope to a tree and semi-repelled down this ditch to see the cars. Well here is what was left. It did look like there were a bunch of cars down there at one time. I still enjoyed rooting around myself. When we left, I told him that he had not seen them since 1980 and now he could say he had not seen them since 2008. He told me that he would never see them again so I felt honored to be able to go look at them.

here's another angle. Really nice old man owns them. Here's a couple of the A's in the garage too. I can drive right to it. nothings for sale either. he's an old hot rodder that loves all his old stuff. even keeps the donkey that kicked him in the head. he's owned the orange coupe since high school.

That's funny, There's different wheels on the coupe in your pic. I think mine are newer based on the roadsters progress and the roof on the sedan being welded. You obviously know him so you know how amazing it is that he gets all the stuff done that he does. I'll keep it quiet so's to keep away oportunist's

through John Labelle, my cousin owns California hot rods where I used to work. John is a good friend and occasional customer of the shop. John kept telling us we needed to go down and meet him but time never allowed. We Finally got to go to his "A" days show last year. Great guy. you better have time to talk if you go see him though. Loves to talk old hot rods and such. Ever look at all his old pictures and stuff. I was going to go see the train set but did'nt brave the trip to the attic.

  22. I couldn't figure it out either. It's big whatever it is. He has a lot of other stuff that you can't really see in the picture. Chevelle wagon, Nissan Patrol, Riviera, Kaiser and such.

Took me around 10 years of asking this old guy every 6 months about this model a couple and an old t sedan. Both were in good shape and orignal. He passes on about 10 years later. Finally get the tsedan from his daughter. She says here boyfriend was going to restore the old 5 window. She puta plastic tarp over it and sits it in the field for another 5 years I finally saved it after 15 years :D But in way worse shape. When I first found it there was no rust on it.But it was still worth 500.00 :D

You never know! I'm still pissed about that trip...the usual, "NOTHIN'S FOR SALE!!!" But the guy was so proud of his stash that he wanted us to go walk through it anyway. Douche. The one I wanted (but somehow lost the pics of) was a '66 Caprice, 4dr. hardtop, with 396 and A/C.
