I think it would be a GREAT idea, but maybe keep an O/T section of some kind.. maybe the 'OK so it wont fit in any other category' section LOL

Keep up the awesome work Ryan!

    I hate change...

I like the one stop shopping, so to speak.

As was said above, I like being able to see pics from Detroit or whatever show, then going right to a build post, or interesting tech post.
Or to say Congrats to a HAMBer who just had a kid, etc....

And I spend alot of time here, and I think I'd miss too much if it was split....

    Just my .02

    Thanks

I think the change would be good. Most other forums are more split up, and usually easier to find the typpe of threads that one would be looking for (tech, history, event coverage...).

I vote yes, would make the HAMB a more streamlined machine

I'm too new for my opinion to count, but I kinda like it the way it is. It's the only board I really look at and I usually just go back a page or two and look around to see what I missed. Then I go on to the current page. But I really think it should be Ryan's decision as he is the one who has to "work" with the board. We all just play here, so it should be whatever makes Ryan's life easier. Just my .02

  6. The one downside I see with divided forums is that some folks never venture out of their little corner. We will get people that only post in one area. That may be good, it may be bad? My .02

Newbie here to, but I must admit I have been a bit confused in here in the beginning! I think simple is good, but the simple order you have suggested is better I think! Dividing it up would be a good idea, I think I miss to many post today, because its "moving so fast"!

By the way, this forum has been the coolest thing I have ever seen here on the internet! :) Sometimes I cant really believe all the cool posts thats in here, its kinda like heaven for mee!!!

    Keep up the good work!!!

I kind of like it the way it is now. I think with everything together in one section like it is I check out things I wouldn't normally see or be interested in, and I like that.

  11. I like it the way it is, but . . . let's give splitting up the categories a try.
If it didn't work out we could always go back.

As fast as the HAMB rolls over now, I'm guessing that many tech posters don't post tech because why spend 2-6 hours or more on a piece that's going to disappear in a half hour.

    True for me....

Ryan, I'm posting this reply without reading any others. I like the feature car idea, this could help connect a car with a HAMB ID, most of us know what 3Window Larry has for wheels, it would be great to know what others have when we see them post a reply. I'm not real big on changes, but what you outlined sounds ok with me.:)

I agree, I look at loads of stuff that really isn't "my" thing, and I'm sure on some level it makes me a better person.

BUT, the post rollover is just amazing. I, like a lot of other people here, don't have all day Internet access. I can browse some at lunch time, and of course I spend too much time at the PC every night before bed. When I sit down at the computer at night, there's like 5-6 pages of posts to look back through, and I know I'm missing good stuff because I tend to concentrate on the first page or two.

It's pretty much a given that spreading roughly the same number of posts over 5-6 forums is going to slow the page rollover WAY down, so I'm all for it. It seems like it'd be easier to find stuff, keep up with stuff, etc, if you're only having to go, say two pages deep to read all the new posts.

So yeah, I'm 1000% in favor. And I hate change, too.

The "readers ride" or project forum is a killer idea! I'm sure I've started 50 threads that say something like "update pics" about my project, it'd rock to just add to one post in a dedicated area.

Quick 2 cents about OT posts, too. If we had a "general" forum or something, it should cut down on OT posts in other areas once everyone gets the hang of it. With that said, I am one of the people that doesn't mind some OT conversation, as long as it's something worthwhile. A lot of folks here have a lot in common besides our love of traditional cars, so it's nice every now and then to get an opinion from people, or congratulate someone on a house purchase, or whatever.

In the beginning I hate change too but usually once I'm use to it I like the new stuff better. I'm sure that will be the case here. The roll over rate is the main reason I'm for it.

Ryan, the one thing I have thought about for a long time that in the tech archives it would be good to catagorize the tech. I.E. suspension. body, interior ,tools, etc. also to delete all "comments" and irrelivent material from the posts. This would almost be like a HAMB technical book on cars. Many times I've looked through the archive for 20 min. to search for some tech article because I didn't recognize the title. I like change. Everything you have done so far has only made the HAMB better, go for it! I trust your judgement.

  21. First of all; you guys do a great job with this website!

I really like the "Quick Reply" box at the end of posts and I think the new classifieds idea will/ should work out real well.

As far as the general forum goes I like it as is; it's totally random which makes it very interesting cuz you never know what you'll get. It's like a grab-bag of subjects. I spose some of us are just resistant to change but change is just a part of life; so whatever you decide to do will work out fine.

Thanks for giving us the chance to express our thoughts on this.

  22. I like things the way they are. As mentioned before I like the diversity of threads all in one place, I end up learning about cars and such even if I did'nt mean to. But do what you will, you're in charge.

Uhhh...it already is like that. When a tech piece is moved into the Tech-O-Matic, the moderators add a title like "Chassis" to the beginning of the subject line. If you want to sort, you just click on the subject at the top of the web page & it resorts the threads for you...

...but I'm sure you knew that!;) :D

Can I vote to leave it as-is again? :D

  25. I like the way it is.

More diversity to choose from, sometimes i'll click on a discussion because a lot of folks seem to be posting on it, even if im not interested in the title.

The vagarieties of titles sometimes doesnt tell what the topic really is.

I fthere's a separate "art" section, I may never go there, but on the general forum it may pique my interest.

    My five cents.

I really like it the way it is. This place is so great, I'm scared of the thought of changing it. I check the main board and classifieds many times a day, just take a quick peak and see if there is a new post or thread I need to read. I love everything that is offered here and there isn't a type of post (except for most O/T) that I don't enjoy. For me, checking more sections means more time and more difficult. I'm sure I'll adapt if it changes. But I really like the current setup...

Ryan, you have had the vision to take the HAMB to where it is now, I'm sure whatever you decide will be incredible.

Kind of along the lines of what I was thinking. Being able to tag the post when you make it... Maybe with a post icon for each kind... I like that "all in one" forumn but if you change it so be it....

Uhh......why would it "disappear"?  When you log in the posts in bold type are new posts. If you havent seen the post and the title interests you click on it.....it's pretty simple.

Yeah I realize that, but how lazy/computer stupid do you have to be to not know there's more than one page?   :D
