Well for those who are following the saga of the HAMB Hauler here is the latest chapter. As some know I'm being moved to Atlanta by my company so I've been trying to "slap" together the hauler so that I can bring it to my aunt's house to sit until I have a place to bring it to in Atlanta.
A few weeks ago we got the rear end in and today fltblk (Tyler) and I invented an open drive line conversion for the tranny. (And they said it couldn't be done!?) Thanks again to FLAT-TOP for suppling the drive shaft. We made 2 drive shafts become one, going from the enclosed driveline chevy to a 66 ford rear.
At the end of the day it all worked and I now have a truck that can move under its own power. ... Now if I only had brakes!...

First pic. Was enlosed becomes open!

Tranny side. This way it stays enlosed at the tranny, keeping the oil seal inplace, but allowing us to have the rest of it open.

Drive shaft jig that Tyler came up with. It seemed like it would work, but in the end we actually had to mostly eyeball it to make right.

And here is Kirstie in her truck with the expensive seats and nice interior. The gas tank (can) is next to her and she's ready to roll!

You know why the Snowman and the Bandit hauled that truckload of Coors? Same reason you did your drive shaft....They said it couldn't be done.

By the way, when you get to Atlanta get ahold of Tudor. He can get you tuned to the local hot rod scene. And, all of us southern Hamb guys meet at Charlotte for the Goodieguys beer drink festival.

    See ya, -Abone.

  13. I still think doughts in the dirt of the new development
would have been appropriate. Besides I gave you a brick to
throw under the tire for a brake.

Awesome. I like the look you got going there. very Rat-Clampett style. Kirstie is going to have alter her accent a little if she plans on keeping the truck looking like that.

Anyway thanks for the words. It was pretty fun to actually drive that thing. I don't know when I'll be able to bring it to Atlanta, but I think it will be a while.

Motor will do its job. But it has a HUGE crack in the block. Prolly about 7" long. I filled it with some hard core radiator sealer and it seems to hold well enough. To add to all this I am actually using the radiator that was in it when I got it. Leaks some, but works well enough. Mark gave me another that I'll try to get in there.
As far as smoking... Depends on the RPM. It defenatly burns oil, but what the hell. Just has to drive about 100 feet and then park.

BTW, Rev... I won't be doing anything with that motor anymore... However Tyler will likely want it for the Stude. I told him to talk to you about it. But thanks for the offer.

  26. OCP/Flat-Blk, awesome guys. I have a taste of how Bob must feel. That rear end sat underneath my Ranchero for years. Must be a taste of how an organ donor must feel! Glad you are keeping it.

And to think you were having all those second thoughts on the trip home with the HAULER. Glad to see it's working out, and glad I got to be a small part of it.
