I know the "who" (me), but what does this spare tire carrier fit? I have this orphan spare tire mount that needs to be identified. Hoop is 17" (For an 18" rim). It has the round hole for the valve stem, and a slot for the lock lever of a split rim. Legs are 21" across at the mounting holes. Closest I was able to find was '31 Buick, although I did find an Olds that was equally similar; neither took the proverbial cigar.
You might need to start checking out the independent makers. It could be anything from the 20’s to 30’s and more than likely a higher end car like the 3 P’s or something similar
Not many used the wedge retainer, and the size of the rim does narrow it down considerably. I can say with certainty what it is NOT! That list is growing too. Wood spoked for sure.
Dodge did use that style of rim in 28/30 or so but the way the spare mounts on the bracket looks different.
Yeah, a ton of them are similar, the one in the top pic is even different than the bottom one. And the search goes on!
