been to the museums in fla and detroit a few times and they dont compare. the one in fla is a few hrs deal. the one in detroit is a few days to see it and greenfield village completely . and the history doesn't compare. yes the ford/edison estate has some historical significence how can it compare to the chair lincoln was asasinated in, the limo in the jfk asasination, the numerous automotive legends living in its hall including the mustang prototype, a weinermobile, tthe rosa parks bus and it goes on and on

I work across the street, and spend many lunch hours walking through that place.Highly recommended!

Been there 2 times. Great museum. I was at the Indy 500 in 1965 when the first Ford driven byJimmy Clarke won. First year for Ford, first rear engine car that won and first year for Good Year Tires. That car is there also.

Been there 8 times. I think the 32 and older car show in September is the best show ever. Not only can you see them up close, but they drive them around the village during the day, and then have a parade at night. Its a don't miss it event. Iceman

  5. The museum is one of my favorite places and the Old Car Festival for '32 cars and older is one of my favorite events. Both winners, great advice!

  7. People who put their cars in the Motor Muster and Old Car Festival say it's a great deal. For one money you get back door access and a bunch of p***es to the museum and the village, and they treat everyone really nice.

As a kid I used to ride my bicycle to the Village and hide my bike in the bushes along the surrounding cement wall, then jump the fence! I could then gain admission to the museum. Didn't have money back then. Also got caught many times sitting on the wall around the proving grounds. I lived close enouph (sp) to hear when the Thunderbolts were running.

    khead47,
Just happened to post this pretty cool image on the thunderbolt thread here.
These could be the Thunderbolts you were hearing on the test track?

Anybody in the know?...there was a plan some years ago to re-do the EEE building and expand the museum.

It wasn't economically feasible. The EEE building was abandoned and mothballed.

I visited the Henry Ford Museum back in the late 80's and plan on seeing it again later this year when we attend the '54 Ford Club of America convention..looking forward to seeing all the new exhibits. HRP

That Tri-motor was for the most part destroyed during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. It was in a hangar at the Homestead a General Airport that was destroyed. There was an effort to restore however the owner Kermit Weeks has since bought another flying example.
