Ya I see what you are saying. The track I'm going to be running at is not prepped like the sanctioned tracks are, so tire spin out of the hole with the engine on carbs was easy to do. I ran alot of air in the tires and just cleaned them off, not getting them too sticky. This weekend will be a big learning curve I'm sure.

If I put the hurst tires back on I bet she would smoke em for a good distance, the M&Hs on there like to bite hard. We finished up the breather tank last night, put the corvette covers on and gave it a good cleaning.

Didn't go to good King, I went 115mph the first run smoking the tires. 2.2 60 foot. Second run I had to abort, and the third run the blower lost a bearing and split the case right down the middle. The next race is July 8th so we are going to put another blower together and try to get it back up there. It has alot more sack then before, I think it will mph is the 120s.

Sorry to hear about the blower problem. I like the comment about "its got more sack". Did you smoke the M&Hs or the Hursts?

M&H's, I thought there was a possibility it had enough power to pull high gear, but I think I had the revs to low and it smoked the clutch. I have alot of ideas on stuff to try so hopefully she will be ready for the next race so I can try some different things.

Well I had a few cylinders with low pressure so we took her down and found some aluminum shit stuck between the valve and seat and some aluminum got wedged in the top rings jamming them up. So good news is nothing is really messed up to bad, I smoked the shit out of the clutch trying to pull high gear so I need a new disk. Ray Helger hooked me up big time with a old striped blower with Ed Pink plates and double rollers front and rear to use for the next race. Next race is a week away, so it's gonna be another thrash. Well, we found a couple bent intake valves so it floated the valves. Nothing really looks like it went wrong with the blower to cause the damage. It made a loud bang at the top end and shut down so It definitely floated and blew back up thru the intake which is what caused the damage to the blower. So for now I am putting the carbs back on to finish out this season and am going to put together a purpose built long block to handle this other blower before I do some more serious damage. Sucks going backwards but at least I can still run it and have some fun with her for the rest of the season.

    Joe,
Great attitude. Make sure to drive the wheels off of it for the rest of the season. I commend you for trying to step it up, its always a learning curve. You'll get it though, I have no doubt.

We had a good weekend, I really got a good feel for the car this weekend. I had always tried launching it kind of easy and never had good consistant results. This time I would bring it up to about 4k and on the last yellow stab it to the floor and drop the clutch. I was rewarded big time running a best of 6.68 at 105.88mph with 1.5xx 60 foot times. I made 17 runs over two days and it was by far the best weekend of racing I've had.

That's with the carbs on, the blower is on the back burner till I get another engine together. If I launch it wide open it doesn't wheelie, I did have to pedal it a couple time and it came right up on the wheelie bar when it bit, seemed to work ok and nothing is bent so I guess it will be fine.

Ya Keith, I'm planning to go to new England. My father wants to drive it so if he's not working he will probably run it there.

  27. That's awesome - Thanks for sharing. Just think what the blower is going to do!

Well a little update, putting a new engine together more purpose built to handle the whole blown alcohol deal. Got the long block together this weekend she's got a forged crank forged H beam rods and a set of Flat top blower pistons. I got a nice set of used Brodix track 1s and had Bullet grind me up a nice .690 lift solid roller. Should progress pretty fast from this point I hope. ImageUploadedByTJJ1335180764.424042.jpg
