Waylon Jennings put MacArthur Park on my radar screen.

I have relatives arriving today... so I get to check out the Disney Concert Hall, the Grammy Museum (for the Elvis at 21 photo exhibit), Hollywood area, Venice Beach, and I also scored some tickets to Jay Leno's Tonight Show taping on Tuesday. :) Otherwise, I wouldn't get out and go...

And you though you waited in long DMV lines..1940 Downtown DMV was just a tad busy. Check out the Roach Coach and the Model A pick up conversion.

The ridership on the old street cars was falling so they thought a modern version would get the ridership back. In 1939 they unveiled the PCC (Presidential Commerce Commision) Car. A streamlined, comfortable and quiet car it did not help much, people favored their car more.

Most of the PCC cars were sold off after 1963 to Argentina and even a few went to Egypt.
Henry Huntington had the only red car that wasn't red. It was green and he named it "the Alabama". It was his private trolley that he kept on a siding at his home in San Marino, just east of Los Angeles. Afterall, he originally owned the Pacific Electric before it was purchased by Southern Pacific Railroad.
Huntington's home is now the Huntington Library (art museum and garden) and has hundreds and hundreds of paintings, sculptures and other items of fine art. It also has an extensive cactus garden. If you are ever in L.A....GO! Make an appointment online ahead of time. You have to have a appointment for a certain day due to limited parking.

    That's a '62.
Look to the right of the Pass Side Taillight and you'll see the Chrome Rectangles on the Quarter Panel.

san marino is a city true to tradition, you have to have a city work permit to even work there. if you drive a truck with a ladder rack and dont have a city permit, you get a ticket. thats only if you are parked.

While Henry Huntington was not able to keep Pacific Electric (Red Cars) He did keep Los Angeles Railway (Yellow Cars) These were narrow gauge cars and Red Cars were Standard Gauge. Red and Yellow is how people refered to them as "I will take the Red Car today". I liked riding the Red Cars better.
