Just like we love old cars because they have character, buildings can also possess character. Compare the old vs new in these two buildings in Los Angeles.

Boy, look at that. Orchards on the hills and no subdivisions. That was "way out in the boonies" in those days.

Thats looking north towards the hills where the 10-57 interchange, just east of Kellogg Hill.
The Pomona Fairgrounds is to the right about 3 miles.

Actually, that looks more like looking/heading west on the I-10 heading up Kellog Hill. Cal Poly Pomona would be to the left today. Those hills are too high to be near the Fairplex.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "heading west . . . up Kellog Hill" the same thing as "looking north . . . just east of Kellog Hill":)

Both statements indicate that you are east of Kellog Hill heading N-NW. And not to nitpick, but look at the shadows. If you were heading north as Mazooma says, the sun would be out of the east. If you were heading west, the sun would be out of . . . the north (??).

Anyway, welcome aboard HellsHotRods, let's keep enjoying this beautiful ride. :)

Phil Spector and 'the original bad girl of rock 'n' roll', Ronnie Spector, in Gold Star Studios. Gold Star Recording Studios was opened in October 1950 by Dave Gold and Stan Ross, The studio was located in HollyWood Ca., 6252 Santa Monica Blvb near the corner of Vine St. The studio closed it's doors in 1984.
From the mid-50s to mid 80s, Gold Star saw the initiation into the recording arts of artists like Ritchie Valens, Eddie Cochran, The Beach Boys, Sonny And Cher (together and solo), Buffalo Springfield, Duane Eddy, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, The Ronettes, The Righteous Brothers, Iron Butterfly, Herb Alpert And The Tijuana Brass and Meat Loaf.
It was also the recording ‘home’ of ABC-TV’s prime-time Rock & Roll Show Shindig and became the perfect and natural creative home for so many major artists: Bobby Darin, The Who, The Monkees, The Band, Ramones, The Association, Art Garfunkel, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan and John Lennon. Gold Star was Brian Wilson’s “…second favorite studio…” according to engineer Mark Linett, who co-produced the Pet Sounds box set (Wilson’s favorite was United/Western). Gold Star is where Brian Wilson recorded “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” and the massive “I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times.”
This is the studio from which Phil Spector's famous "Wall of Sound" was produced.

Ray Charles' RPM recording studio. In the winter of 1964, Ray Charles opens his RPM Recording Studio at 2107 West Washington Boulevard (RPM stands for "Recording<WBR>, Production and Management<WBR>"). Charles classics like "Let's Go Get Stoned," "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma" and "America the Beautiful" are recorded here.

if this was looking west, then why are the shadows going to the left? That would mean that the sun would be coming from the north.
Nope...it a morning photos, camera looking north, and he shadows falling to the left of the cars, sun rising from the east. Dead ahead would be where Raging Waters is and where that to the right if you were to get on the 10, eastbound, the next offramp would be Dudley...White...and Fairplex...
The curve in that road is still there....that is the end of what has always been referred to as the Corona Expressway. Behind the camera about a half mile is Valley Blvd.
