Is that all you got??? Great stuff, we have made three of them, and when life conditions change we'll be back!
Technically, I have 2,569 images from year one to last year... Kind of crazy. I'll post more once I have a little more time!
For the last couple of years we have coming back from B-ville with 800-1000 images of the event. It makes it hard to whittle them down to 28 images.
A few LSRU photo threads I've put together throughout the years... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...up-a-ton-of-roadtrip-and-event-photos.354683/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-roadster-finally-has-paint-lsru-2016.1015568/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lsru-2013-one-week-on-the-road-in-a-roadster.792565/
Oh man, getting excited!!! My girlfriend and I are flying down from Chicago for this. Our first Lonestar Round up and our first time in Texas too!!
I find No History posts in your thread,,,Photos yes,,,HISTORY No...maybe Mr Norwell could comment further...
I made it to one of these. It was a lot of fun. The things that I saw going on makes me think that Texas doesn't have many lawyers. Wild. I'll get back there some day.
I've only been once, and I would have a hard time choosing only 28 photos from those I took. It's a great event!
The predicted weather is looking pretty darn good. FRIDAY APR 12 74°/56° RealFeel® 73° / 56° Clouds and sun SATURDAY APR 13 69°/52° RealFeel® 71° / 54° Cloudy
I was at the first one, remember the small show feel and hanging out on Congress Ave. It was still crowded, but nothing like it has become later years. Then after leaving San Antonio and moving to CA, went back for the 2nd or 3rd, rode with Brewsir in the Batfink. Another fun trip. Unfortunately have not made it back in many years, I really need to make it priority for next year!
Thanks - look forward to more - wonder how many that attended the 1st still have their same ride from then
Here's my ol' roadster back when you could still actually park by the Continental Club. You picked up your registration packet in the back room. This was the year it had to get moved, last minute, to the Travis Expo Center because of the rains (rain and more rain!). Ol' Steve and the gang pulled it off, don't know how. It was still an awesome time as always. This was '07, I believe. A couple shots of Steve and Lee, too, out front of the club. Time flies. And some random shots...
A couple more. My buddy Jack Marinelli's roadster, on Congress, on our way out to the Hula Hut for some breakfast. Actually met Jack, Steve Dale, and Steve Zaring, all from the Wichita area, at the Round Up. Super nice guys, became great friends with 'em. Everyone entered got a free breakfast, or a discount, can't remember. Beautiful place. As you can see, cleared off and a beautiful day! Believe it or not, some of my best memories of the Round Up have been while it was raining, good times. I remember leaving the motel, in the pouring rain, in the roadster (no top), KNOWING it was gonna be a great day. And, as always, it was! He passed way too soon...he drove this thing like there was no tomorrow. RIP Casey.
I feel a sense of pride from Ryans image selection, two great hot rods by ol Nebraska boys. The Jewel, Joe Cabral Jr., did this model A sedan up right, it has become one of the new icons. And then the amazing 32 coupe of Denny Saums, the mayor of Marquette, Ne. and home of his Hot Rod Shop, a historical early Ford dealership garage that he has converted into the coolest little shop ever. His extensive collection of memorabilia is amazing. He also hosts a luncheon stop for the Rollin Bones crew that is a blast of an event Thanx for the cool LSR historical coverage!
'Had planned to go this year after missing a couple of years, but as the old saying goes, "doo doo happens" and I will be watching from afar. Here are a couple of shots from when I was last there. As others have said, this is a great show...
Remember the year that it was going to be at the Expo Center "in case of rain"? Well the rain never came but we had a new home.
Thanks to all involved putting together such a kool show. I cant remember how many that I have been too but each time is like I hadn't been there before. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the kool quality of cars, vendors, art and food. Sorry to disrupt the Koolness of the Round up pictures but here is one of me and the Merc. I believe this was the second year. This was the only time that I caravanned with other kustoms. Got to cruise down with Gary Mundy, Gary Glasgow and Bill Daniels. It is an ugly pic but still brings back kool memories.
