What's wrong with the perches? Egged out holes?

  4. yep.

  5. Since you're showing the rear axle dropped previously I assume you mean those perches. Here's some suggestion from our buddies at the Barn, one with a link to some interesting pictures of his repair process: http://fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6407&highlight=repair+rear+spring+perches

I've heard of guys taking a brass rod the correct diameter and putting it thru the hole and welding up the gap. I did it to a 36 Front wishbone before. It's worth a shot, I suppose. Other than that, you'd be looking for another rear axle, or at least a pair of housings with good perches.

Get the 40 style spring mount to the rearend from speedway or make your own and mount the spring behind the rearend with like a, I hate to say it, "Suicide Perch" welded to the back of the frame. You could get the rear down low in the factory "C notch" (rear crossmember)

  8. Believe me I thought of doing that. but I have decided against any frame modifications.

The project is looking good so far. I like the black engine.

  13. If you look at the last picture I posted you can see a large hole in the middle of the diagonal rib on the firewall. I ended up filling it and a few others.

Here is it metal finished and primed. I didnt have to use any bondo! Im pretty proud of myself. That coupe taught me alot.

  14. Also I forgot to tell you guys I had a reaction between the original paint and what I laid down, so I stripped it back down to metal

  24. Thanks guys. Spring perch is todays project.

  25. And luckily I am an idiot. Nothing wrong with the axle. Just the bushings are egged and the shackles worn so bad they are offset.

YUP Model A parts for sure. Glad the axle is OK.

  28. Hi Hitch.
I have been subscribed to this thread for some time now, and I must say, I really enjoy following your build. It is very similar to the plans I have for my first from-ground-up build, and the speed, you build in, is enviable.
Did you ever get the engineparts mounted, and did you take pics?
Keep up the good (and fast) work!

Matt, I read your concerns in another thread. I also saw Ryan's response. Just wanted to let you know you certainly have a traditional build going on. In fact, it is almost an identical build I did to my coupe '63 - '65, the very coupe the 17" wheels came off of.

Your build is reminding me of some good times. Love it!

  30. Go man!
Get her back on the road,
summer is going to be winding down pretty soon.
