Holley 3 barrel still has secondary boosters, at least I think the carb I had in my hand a couple months ago did..Memory getting short or too much other stuff on my mind, I'm hoping for the latter..Hasn't some one come out with a similar 3 barrel type in the last year or so?

I like them all...the AFB carbs seem to be a little more trouble free...BUT...if you have any sort of hot motor...you need a double pumper in my experience...and only Holley makes those. I had a '68 Corvette once that had a spread bore double pumper Holley on a stock intake. Car was originally a 435 horse setup so it had stiff gears...that spread bore ran great when you stomped on the pedal. Changed it back to a quadrajet..felt like I lost 50-75 ft lbs of torque down low...with the Holley it would roast the tires at low speeds if you nailed it....with the QJ? Nothing.

Seb....Holley 3 barrels are vacuum secondary....they have the huge diaphragm like the '67-'69 Corvette 3x2 setups do...

Also...I dig the QJ howl....means the secondaries are working...

    correct.

And guys ARE getting confused. The superior Q-jet part throttle fuel metering characteristics that everybody loves to talk about (me included) are all on the primary side. Once you go WOT, the Q-jet loses its inherent part throttle edge over non-annular holleys.

Falcongeorge...I believe a big part of the QJs drive ability and part throttle crispness is due to the tiny by comparison primary throttle blades...

The primary side booster is pretty good, and yes, it helps that its in a real tiny venturi.
