    House on Catalpa Ave Itasca.PNG

This house is 20 miles NW of Chicago and was built in 1937, a year after my dad was born. He bought it from his dad in 1968 when I was 8 and we lived there until 1973. There was a master bedroom and bath addition to the back of the house that happened sometime in the 1950s. We closed in the front porch shortly after moving in. The house to the right did not exist when we were there and we owned that lot too. There was a giant Cottonwood tree there that would "snow" all over the neighborhood when it would bloom. When we got there.it had a rough garage and chicken coop behind it. The property goes pretty deep. Dad knocked both of those down and built the garage seen here. The chicken coop became a garden patch and we had the most amazing veggies out of it. The soil was fertilized by the chickens for years.

One of the best things about this place was the full basement. Built a lot of model cars there and had some massive Hot Wheels track layouts. This house had no A/C, so the basement was a great place to hang out during the summer heat. It was all concrete slab down there and my sisters used to roller skate the whole basement.

This is a modern Google Maps view. I moved to Florida in 1976. I highly recommend this .... My wife and I did a "Google Maps Bicycle Tour" of my hometown over Sunday Morning coffee. You use the street view and just push your way up the street and around corners. It was a great way to spend an hour and show her where I grew up.

Born in 53 at Castle A.F.B. at Atwater California.
Did a lot of growing up at my dads wrecking yard there in Atwater as well.

The black arrow points to the 56 I.H.C. S-110, retired bell telephone line service truck, I was working on that day, in 1975.

Memories from back when we owned a 58 Cadillac 4 door, parked in the driveway of our house, 3 miles outside of Winton, on Mercedes Ave, back in 1967.

I'll let you know after I grow up! The problem is I don't plan on it...hehehe

I just so happen to have a picture of the house I lived in when I went to high school in the 70s. I got it off Google Maps. I $#!T you not, someone put a peace sign on the front of the house...damn, I wonder if they found my stash...LOL

My parents bought this house new, for $32k in the early 70s. In fact it was Feb. of 1973, right when the Sylmar earthquake hit. This area was evacuated when we were 1/2 moved in.

Today's estimated value on Zillow is $937k. Located on Lassen St. (a feeder St.) close to Hayvenhurst. That peace sign makes me wanna smoke a banana. LOL
