It's Friday, I'm at work slacking off and thought I would start a "fun" thread... Let's see your cool old horns, noise makers, Klaxons, wolf whistles, etc... I love old horns and would love to see some I haven't seen! If the horn is yours personally, tell us something about it... how it sounds, where if came from or if it has a cool story behind it... I'll start with this one: I saw this on Ebay, very cool! Can anyone identify this one? (round thing in the top right mounted to the firewall)
HMMM... I didn't think of that! Maybe it is! That would be kind of rad! It's frozen, so I'm not sure what kind of noises it's going to make. I need to pull it apart and dust it off... I figured it was just a horn though.
How aboyt some bicycle horns? The chrome one is on my 38 Hawthorne, the other two I picked up in some junk shop. The one in the package will go on my other 38 Hawthorne, if I ever finish it!
That thing is a carved model of an eskimo driving a rocket sled at Bonneville, going for ***le of "Worlds Fastest Eskimo"
this is a bermuda bell first used on wagons and etc. mount under the floor and then just press the plunger with your foot to announce your arrival at the local hot spot! sounds just like a two tone door bell at your house, this one is going in my merc.
Another great HAMB collector topic. I'll find the first old horn I ever got, it was the start of the old car hobby for me and post the story tomorrow. This is an adjustable horn allows a cow like MOOOOOOOOO when you pull the lever coming out of the motor cover.
I just put this horn back on my T. I got it at a farm yard sale for five bucks. A little RTV on the bulb, and we be a honkin'! It reminds me of the one on the Munster Koach. pigpen
I have 1 of these. It sounds like a duck quack. The guy I got it from had it since right before WW2 It's a little rusty looking, and is missing the horn thing. He said he believed it came off of an old model A. What did this horn come on orginally? David
I don't know if they were on anything from the factory, but they were on all kinds of stuff. I've seen a lot of them on bikes. That design may pre date the automobile??
i dont have any pix yet,but i got a regular horn from my dad's old 65 stepside,an electric wolf whistle and a cool musical keyboard horn that not only plays tunes but lets you program them in that the girlie girl got for me...this and the wolf whistle arent hooked up yet as other duties have taken over as priority, but i'll be sure to let yall know if they work!! creepy
Here's one I saw on a '48 Cad last Saturday at a local car show. I have no idea what it is. (How about that Caddy flathead!) pigpen
The mechanical Klaxon horn was an aftermarket accessory. The Ford Ts had "honk" horns. The Ford As had the famous "AH-oo-gah" sound. The early V8s had honk horns. One on Standard models, two on DeLuxe models. The later V8s had dual horns(one hi-tone, one lo-tone) on all models.
It's been a while since this thread has been posted on, but I wanted to see if anyone could help me identify these. I found them in an old barn on some property my in-laws purchased. Thanks in advance.
