I was laughin' at the helmet cuz I had the exact same one for years! I tried striping it myself, and didn't like it. Someone told me carb cleaner would take the paint off. It took the glaze and the paint and made it all into some psychadellic swirl when I tried to wipe it down with a rag. I was pissed, but too cheap to buy another helmet, so I wore it. People actually thought it had some sort of cool custom finish on it...actually SOLD the damn thing to some chick!
I've got a pile of metalflake helmets, rebel flag, stars and stripes and I just bought a pair of matching gold ones. The one I'm wearing matches my silver tank, I bought it at a swap meet for $2. It's totally worn out now, the lining's all gone but it's my favorite. I had a little skullcap helmet and when I crashed my Triumph I ended up getting stitches in my head. I think a good 3/4 helmet's a nice compromise, I can't imagine wearing a full face in this Florida heat. It was such an honor to get picked by Chopperdave as a turd place winner, especially for something I built 12 years ago that looks like it's 30. It's kind of gratifying to get magazine coverage, but the truth is 99% of us do this shit out of love and that's the bottom line. I can tell you there were some guys there with $20,000 plus bikes that were real mad mine got anything and truthfully after seeing the pictures in The Horse my bike needs to be rebuilt nicely. I don't feel I desrved any prize, I went there to see Hot Rod Walt, Maurice, Paul Cox and Chopperdave and some other pals, but it was still nice. BTW, THE Horse trophy fell apart as soon as I bungeed it to my fender, hey guys build some stronger trophies.
oh come on fellas.....didnt turn to the back of the mag and check out hte article on pinstriping yet didja? hehehehhehe.
I did caffeine, you rule man. I tried doing it for the first time ever on Sunday, boy is it hard. Are you coming down for Biketoberfest? I'd love to meet you.

Caffeine...very cool....I didn't get that far in the mag last night. I love to stripe...I just hate my artwork.
Wow Nads.......your agent must be getting that manly mug of yours in all the rags this month.......picked up a copy of Ol'Skool Rodz last night and there on page 55 is the old Nads with a big grin!!
Cool deal Mike Harrington, send me a PM before you get here and we'll meet up. I don't know if we're gonna get swap meet space in Daytona this year, the infield's being redone and the meet will be half the normal size. That sucks, because I live for swap meets. Thank you all for your kind words. I can see it now, Jesse James, Billy Lane, Chica, Nads....just kidding guys!!!!!
