Modified license plate frame + gauge set from So Cal Speed Shop with a stainless steel plate from an old Hotel elevator in my 32 roadster.
Need to repaint but it's a Classic Instruments 40 cluster. Tachometer, GPS speedometer, all electric gauges in a 32 style dash in my A roadster. It works flawlessly. Sent from my SM-N900P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
My COE Dash Upper and Lower, The upper are VDO, the lower Dash instruments are from an Alfa Romeo with Ford Emblems and the Mooneyes
Top third is '35-'36 car and the bottom two thirds is '40 car... narrowed speaker area ... '71 F100 speedo... 12v 80*sweep gauges...
I like to match the manufacture of the sender and gauge, I buy them together... they often come with bogus bezels, so I put the lighted fuel gauge in the passenger's kick panel so it need not match the dash gauges...
Post a photo of the kick panel gauge if possible. Have you thought about filling the 40 instrument panel with a dummy gauge?
sold the '33 coupe, no pix... gauge had a black plastic bezel... gauge hole was filled with blackened plexiglass...
I love this thread. I've been planning my dash and interior ever since I started the build on my car 5 years ago. They say wheels and stance make a car. I say paint and interior (especially the dash) make the difference between a car and a great car. Keep them coming!
The thing that stinks about all this is it becomes an obsession. I never really gave it too much thought until my car is getting close to being finished. Now I'm obsessing over the details like gauges and stuff. I've been lucky and found some stuff that I've been looking for, but Stewart Warner gauges are certainly going to cost you if your looking for the popular ones. Temp gauges are going through the roof.
Beautiful work and great collection of instruments. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
1930 Coupe, chopped 4". Dash is 35/36 Ford. Waterfall is 1936 cabriolet/roadster trim. Gauges are SW Green Lines. The dash and glovebox door will be chromed. There'll be 1955 Chevy headlight switch and ignition switch bezels.
TSA story - After my daughter finished her stint in the Army, she and my son were going through security. She was ''selected'' for a search by a lady TSA agent. Lady asks ''do you want to go into a private room?" Daughter winks at her and replies, ''I don't know, do YOU want to get a room?" Haha.
Another TSA Story - 2016 my then 13 yr old son and I were coming back into the country through security. We each get yelled at by 2 different TSA officers giving conflicting orders. They proceed to yell at the guy behind us as well. I then turn to my son and say “pay attention son, this is what it looks like when non military people try to do a military job.......it gets completely f%@ked up!” And yes it was said loud enough. We now can return back to our normally scheduled hotrod program. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
1938 car dash, left side filled and redrilled to resemble a '35-'36 cluster... dash is narrowed to fit a closed car model A... speaker grill filled, left the trim's mounting holes to mount the trim and "any" emblem inside it... .
