Hey PFF, your truck has even better proportions than the "Rudy truck". You took a good idea and made it better. Just don't chop it stoopid low to "be like Rudy".

You might even fit well enough in it to drive it PFF!

  4. a bunch of****holes on the internet....
barring that- my french bulldog Peanut.

maybe i was wrong in calling it a*****box.
the fact of the matter is- that truck is very visually stimulating- it stops alot of people in thier tracks before they've even decided whether they like it of not.
i don't understand why someone would want to copy it though. and there are alot of people who are.
shit- i love- LOVE the roach rod. that car is the*****- visually and practically- yes- i've drivin it on a number of occasions. i would't copy it though.... not exactally.
and i don't consider myself terribly creative.

it's gonna be hard for you guys that are building these z'd late 30s trucks to not have it compared with Rodriquezes...........
that would be a problem for me- maybe my insecurities????
    do what you want
    i'll set my own pace.

i still don't what Paul's problem is though.........

  5. think of your fellow man, lend him a helping hand and put a little love in your heart

  6. All you have to do is look at the way Rudy dropped the cowl onto the motor, set the moto back into the firewall and then ingeniously used a Model 40 grille to match the hood reliefs in the cowl and you can see why that truck is head and shoulders above the rest...

And if you think current owner is capitalizing on the sale of a "famous" hot rod... wait 'till I****** the Roach Rod out... you guys haven't seen*****. [IMG]

cool story lowNloud... i say again, that truck has skill/talent embedded in it.

if a hotrod fenderless truck is to be emulated, it should be the taxi

On that advice, my dad gave a $50,000 (alot of money at the time) brand new Porsche to an 18 yr. old Rudy to go through.

Dude I started it and I want it dead...

Kill my thread! I started as a way to kinda poke fun at the kids who think that Hot rodding began with Rudy and Shine and to say that the truck is for sale. But now it's TIRED. [IMG]

  18. Stock 911s are a mile off the ground. air conditioning on 80's Porsches are junk, EFI, and clutches only lasted him 15,000. 6 speed RUF gear box. etc.

    Yeah, thanks phil.

Apparently 80's Porsches are*****. Fight the hype, yo!

Reminds me of an amusing anecdote:

I was going out to lunch with three other guys from my office and going out into the parking lot to pile into my Galaxie. Lo and behold there is a Tom Selleck wannabe leaning against his early 90's 911, looking all for the world like he was in a cigarette ad, leaning ever so nonchalently against his pride and joy waiting for the office strumpet to arrive. I walk by and say, "Nice Volkswagen." He pipes up and says, "It's not a Volkswagen, not with dual exhaust like that." Then I say, "Oh, is it a kit car then?" My buddies heard that and started howling with laughter. I get in the Galaxie and fire up the 390 and he says, "Nice Chevy."

Nah man, too fast to be a Chevy...

This guy is on the Accident Prevention Council for the project with me and he won't talk to me to this day.

Ha ha ha ha ha hahhhhh....

man,..sure glad there was NO INTERNET back in the 40's & 50's...

...shit,from all the funny men and***** talkers here, there would probably be nothing around ....

no iskeridan knock-offs of his turtle decked T

    no 36 roadsters chopped,lowered and re-grilled..Westergard style

no 49-51 chopped mercs, cuz Sam Barris ALREADY DID THAT!

no 56 chevys with seaweed flames(WATSON)

no ugly**** 58-59 t birds with custom paint(again WATSON)

no T buckets with shortend p/u beds

those are just a few off the top of my head,im sure you can name more,,but what im saying is that im SURE that some one in the past 60 or so years has THOUGHT of the idea of making one of these "late model" truck cabs into a hotrod,BUT Rudy was the first to pull it off sucessfully and make it******in. i saw the truck in person this summer and it was bad****,its not "rough" at all, very refined..

when i look at my truck im building,it looks REAL rough compared to his,AND i DIDNT try to knock off his truck, actually at the time,i just somewhat finished dumping every other paycheck for the last 3 years into my 56(well,it SEEMED like it! [IMG]) and wanted something to build,,,i wanted a 32-34,...then figuered id SETTLE for a model A,and even those where out of my price range,,,,

so i had a chevy CAB donated to me and built around it,,i have less than 2G's in it,so if you want to call it a Rudy knock off ,thats cool,i'll take that as a compliment!
