One of these years, possibly 2010, I'd like to make this show. Can anyone direct me to links to other automotive events that are held in the same area about that time, too? I'm guessing I could make a month of it! Thanx in advance, Gary

  5. The whole week at Pebble Beach is awesome....There's 2 other Concours that week, the Tour on Thursday & auctions too.

Check out The Goodguys site, they may have a show at Pleasanton round that time.

Plus once we get into 2010 a bit, there will be more stuff arranged.

This year, on the same weekend as Pebble Beach, in Carmel, was the Concours Italiano, the historic races at Laguna Seca, three auctions at Monterey, CA, and then a week later, Goodguys at Pleasanton. I was there for all that and if it is the same this year, I highly recommend you try to get a room now.
And did I mention, bring cash!

I'm more into the Concours, the races and other car shows. If all goes well, I'll be towing a little trailer behind the 27, so a campground / RV park near Laguna Seca might be best. Is Fort Ord still there or did it get absorbed by the local govt? Any close military bases that have campgrounds? Gary

you can camp on the grounds at Laguna Seca. check the race track's website for details. Lots of spaces, built in alarm clock of the first practice session in the morning. :D Book early as the camp spots will sell out for the week.

Fort Ord is now fully privatized. No RV park left there that I know of. No Military bases close by.

There are a couple of RV parks in the area, but its the same story... book early as they will fill up. One in Carmel Valley is VERY nice but hard to get in and out of with a LARGE rig (there are some pull-through spots but its still pretty close).

Barry Mazza and I were there in 2005, because the 40 Buick that he built and sold to Kurt McCormick was in the show. I am originally from Nor-Cal But had never attended
The Pebble Beach Concours. I was amazed. There were about 5 auctions/shows in Monterey, We went to Carmel and there was a solid city block of Ferraris parked at the curbs,(Both sides of the street) Laguna Seca had cl***ic races. That is a week that you can't miss.

Been going to the Pebble Beach week for about 20 years now... if you even have a remote interest in cars this is a MUST attend at some point in yer life. Its the SuperBowl, the Kentucky Derby and the Lower Oakland Roller Derby Finals all rolled up into one. It doesnt get bigger.

Every year I see some vehicle that I've never heard of or have seen in real life before. Amazing stuff. It can get a little stuffy at times, but there is a way around that as well (see the link to the Concours d'LeMons :D).

The Carmel Concours is worth checking out (free)

as is The Tour stop in Carmel on Thursday (also free)

When do they announce which rods will be included for judging ?

  19. On the day.....Trust me, whatever they pick to show on the lawn will be worth the trip, along with EVERY other car. They release a few tidbits in press releases throughout the year, but the full entry is pretty much kept quiet.

Like Alan said, if your even remotely interested, you have to go at least once.

  20. Save the money up & go...It WILL be worth it.

Getting in for free: - wrap up a suit and tie in a trash bag, jump out of your row boat, swim to shore before the sun comes up, change into that dry suit and tie, walk onto the green.

SURE! I'd LOVE to get there, it's been on my Bucket List for years, but the dream is fading fast. PLEASE take as many photos as you can, your coverage over the past years is THE BEST anyone in the hobby has ever posted. Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2010. Bob:)

be sure the sing the Mission Impossible or James Bond theme song to yourself as you are doing so... it makes you invisible to henchmen and security guards.

One can volunteer to work at the show. There are PLENTY of positions that need filling. Call the Concours office for details.

there are other ways to "sneak" in... but I aint telling :D.

Its worth the ticket price and the Concours donates TONS to charity.

    thats one way :D

I've always had credentials as a back up... but I've found about 4-5 ways to sneak in over the years. Always inadvertently... I've done something... then thought... HEY... no one checked my credentials for that... huh... mental note ;).

but there are charities that benefit from the event, and they are all worthy. Its worth paying the price of admission. Even though I get p***es every year, I kick in a donation to the charities.
