The color is a bit dark in these pics. Here's what it looks like in sunshine.
I love the dark maroon metallic color. It has a great effect when the sun
hits it, but it looks great around the clock... :D

    Beautiful J.B., absolutely beatiful car.
I love the way the maroon looks with the chrome and www's...classy!!

My color is actually closer to the color of how yours looks in the darker pictures and it's a solid color. After seeing the pics of your car I can't wait to get some color on mine!

Whats the story on your Caddy, are you doing a restoration, or are there changes planned? Either way, nice job. How about some more pics.

Thanks for your kind words about the Merc. Dark Maroon is a great choice,
    solid or not.

The Caddy will be a full 1949-50 California Kustom-style in a few years.
I collect parts and ideas for it and have some stuff already. But for next
year it will have the hood shaved and smoothed, taillights removed,
shaved trunk, the car lowered with a correct stance, 1941 Buick fender
skirts and a 1949 Cadillac engine with Hydramatic. The car already have
molded headlights, removed "fake horns" in front fenders and no fender trim
mouldings. I keep my kustom-"plans" to myself for a little while longer, but it
is going to be a nice period car, I hope... :D

Any more pics of you car?

    Sorry,

But I have to disagree with Reverend_Grimm13 about the Lance Bass car.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=160131624434&rd=1

Where do you want me to start? Commissioned--and, I would argue, styled--by someone with no true idea what custom cars are, this thing is just a mish-mash of everything new that I've seen on every "old-school" "rat-rod" custom for the past five years. If I owned it, I'd have to repaint everything and gut half the interior just to even feel halfway decent about it.

Examples? First--a "California black-plate car"? So fucking what? For this car, that just means it's a '50s custom with '63 plates. LAME.
Second, it says NSYNC on the rear window. WEAK. (Unless you like Nsync.)
Third, it's called the Grapevine, and that name's still taken. LOSER.
Fourth, there's California raisins on the valvecovers. PUSSY.
Fifth, the description on eBay refers to the interior as the "loveshack." RETARDED.
Sixth, the eBay description of the guy who did the striping refers to him as a "Von Dutch scholar," and while I appreciate that all three words are spelled right, FUCK OFF! Give me a fucking break. Von Dutch woulda used the five-point palm exploding heart technique on Lance Bass so fucking fast.

I do agree this could be a decent car--but you'd pretty much have to take it apart and start over. Way too much modern Autobacs bullshit for me. (I just got running water in my house last week, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my old rain barrel.) I'm really surprised it didn't have neon on the chassis.

Sorry, Rev. I'll shut up now.

The car reminds me of Big Marks old car, I believe it was once owned by McPhail. I personally love the style and the majority of your criticism is aimed at the ad, not the car.

First--a "California black-plate car"? So fucking what? For this car, that just means it's a '50s custom with '63 plates.
    Solution: Who cares?

Second, it says NSYNC on the rear window. WEAK. (Unless you like Nsync.)
    Solution: Razor blade, done

Third, it's called the Grapevine, and that name's still taken. LOSER.
Solution:pay the $75,000 and call it what ever the hell you want.

Fourth, there's California raisins on the valvecovers. PUSSY.
    Solution:Valve covers are about $100

Fifth, the description on eBay refers to the interior as the "loveshack."
    Solution:See number 3

Sixth, the eBay description of the guy who did the striping refers to him as a "Von Dutch scholar," and while I appreciate that all three words are spelled right, FUCK OFF! Give me a fucking break. Von Dutch woulda used the five-point palm exploding heart technique on Lance Bass so fucking fast.
Solution: Von Dutch is no position to be kickin anyones butt and and the striping looks pretty damn good.

Agreed, NSYNC sucks and previous owner digs dudes and all, but I think the Reverend is right on!

Can someone post some more customs now?

Can anyone tell me more about the COE (?) in the background? Looks interesting - I'd love to know what it is.

This one is in my backyard waiting its turn. 58 chrysler 392, Jahns pistons, Isky 380 Hyd cam, 87 Corvette suspension front and rear. 60 Olds taillites mounted vertically, 51 dash, "special effects paint" haha

Yes, it is swedish car. It is chopped by Peder Landkvist as it reads in swedish Power-magazine feature. I have no scan, just copy of the story.

Thanks for the comments, here are a couple of pictures of the '47. It was actually built in NY during the mid-late 50's. If anyone has any historic info on the car I'd love to have it. It was ornage and called "The Goonie Bird."

    Thanks
