Finally--a Chevy coupe chopped proportionately. Not too sure about the fender skirt treatment (don't hate it, just don't understand the angled top edge), but it's different. Overall, the car's got a great profile.

  8. A couple of these have been posted, but at different angles...

  9. Hell yeah...that car should've been posted already.

I'm with ya, RF...I think the chop on this coupe works too, but the trunk treatment helps a LOT.

I like this 1940 coupe... great 40's style chop with the drip rail removed.... now some nice shiny paint and some better suiting hubcaps.

Another 40, this time a DeLuxe Convertible with a very nice body section and Lincoln bumpers.....

I also really like this 49-50 Chevy convertible... Nice lines... and the black Padded top (with almost sedan proportions) looks really nice.

  17. I'm still blown away by the fact that I actually got to sit in the Sam Barris Merc, at the trim shop.

I can SO imaging that... I think I would have had tears in my eyes!

Do you have any photos of that moment.. or of the Sam Barris Merc at the shop that you can share!

  19. Well Rikster, I can't find the sitting in it shot yet, but here's an inside sampler for you. I have to go through all my photos of the trip. There are a lot. Flatattack (who is a trimmer) was over the road with Ron Mangus helping choose fabrics and vinyl. He had to pinch himself real hard. We didn't even know the car was there! We both walked in and went "Is it?" "Could it be?" "Sure looks like it." "Shit it is..." And Ron confirmed it. Oh my god. That was a couple of days after drooling over and under the Calori coupe! Pure gold.

Im assuming that seat in there is being re-covered, right? Ive never seen pics of the inside of the Sam Barris merc, but i sure hope it wasnt velour!

You are a lucky man to have had the chance to sit in it.

  21. Chad, that's the old stuff. The car had only just got there, they were just starting on it. Finding tiny remants of the original fabric and vinyl was not easy. That's why RM and Flatattack were into the suppliers stores to try to figure out what to use.

I just noticed you guys having a discussion on this so thought I'g chip in.

The original seats had disappeared a long time ago so these ones were located for the retrim. Ron had the original headliner that was done when the car was first chopped. Ron spoke with George at LARS who told him that he and Sam were short on funds when the car was completed and struggled to have the car upholstered but knew they needed to do the trim to finish the car as a true custom when done.

The color ron and I chose was a jewel green velour with white piping between each panel for the headliner, as original, and the seats were going to be the same jewel green velour and white which is understood to be the choice Sam made.

And for what's it's worth, yes, I was totally dumbfounded to have any involvement in this.

Hey Poncho, is this the same car that used to be a coupe with metallic blue paint and primer spots? Seen pictures of it on the internet, I think at 50chevy.com. Anyway, nice job on the chop. How many inches did you take out? Schweet.
