The HUNNERT

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Road Kill PU, Jul 16, 2010.

  1. Called today and got my room for the Hunnert and was told by every motel that I called that they had raised their room rate by $40 because they could get it for the special event. Going to pay the price but I think that is PURE BULLSHIT.

  5. I understand the town was so happy to get the show they were pissing themselves. Who wouldn't be glad for the dollars coming in - Illinois' economy is pretty bad - but to get greedy like that? Not cool...what do the Czars have to say?

I thought that was one of the problems that were supposed to be solved by the venue change. I've had reservations for months at a good rate. Am I looking at a rate increase when I check in? I know all about the rotten economy but I don't want to save a bad business year on one weekend. Hope the Czars are on top of this one and I feel for them being in the middle of an obvious sticky situation.

  7. It's America...It's Capitalism, It's free enterprise. If you owned the Hotel/Motel you'd be pissed if users set your prices. You can't have it both ways...Be thankful there are rooms available. Uh Oh, I think I feel another infraction coming.....Opinions are dangerous....I was told I had no right to express my opinion here before. You guys better be careful.....Centurion9, Hot Rod and Custom Lover, Free Thinker and Respecter of Others Rights to Express themselves........Pay, or stay home..........

same thing at BTTF a few weeks ago--stayed on University Ave.---rooms there used to be 60.00 or so per nite---that was maybe 10 years ago. now they are $150.00. they claim to really like us coming to that show. Would they be more correct saying they really like our $$. prolly.

I should have read all of the responces before I posted. Here we have the obvious solution to the problem. We should all be proud of being a part of a group that has members with this mentality, and more so the gall (stupidity) to post it.

I move markets for a living. Capitalism sucks on occasion. Does not mean we have to like it.

If you could get $50,000 for a $5,000 car would you turn it down?

Paid $80 a night for a motel room attached to the Greyhound buss depot in downtown Detroit in 1984, the week before it probably was $15.00 a night. The Greyhound Hilton was the only place for racestaff to stay for the F1 race that weekend. buy the way a 12oz glass of Cokeacola was $3.00.
You don't want to know about rooms near Road America on big race weekends.

The Pigeon Forge Rod Runs here in Tennessee are notorious for this crap. Room rates at some of these flea bags are $40 a night till the cars come to town. Right up to $150-175 a night. Some of them even require a 4 night minimum.

    Robbery!!!
