Called today and got my room for the Hunnert and was told by every motel that I called that they had raised their room rate by $40 because they could get it for the special event. Going to pay the price but I think that is PURE BULLSHIT. Later, Dick
Same crap when I went to Indy for the NHRA U.S. Nationals Race weekend special almost double the regular rate WTF
I understand the town was so happy to get the show they were pissing themselves. Who wouldn't be glad for the dollars coming in - Illinois' economy is pretty bad - but to get greedy like that? Not cool...what do the Czars have to say?
I thought that was one of the problems that were supposed to be solved by the venue change. I've had reservations for months at a good rate. Am I looking at a rate increase when I check in? I know all about the rotten economy but I don't want to save a bad business year on one weekend. Hope the Czars are on top of this one and I feel for them being in the middle of an obvious sticky situation. Frank
It's America...It's Capitalism, It's free enterprise. If you owned the Hotel/Motel you'd be pissed if users set your prices. You can't have it both ways...Be thankful there are rooms available. Uh Oh, I think I feel another infraction coming.....Opinions are dangerous....I was told I had no right to express my opinion here before. You guys better be careful.....Centurion9, Hot Rod and Custom Lover, Free Thinker and Respecter of Others Rights to Express themselves........Pay, or stay home..........
same thing at BTTF a few weeks ago--stayed on University Ave.---rooms there used to be 60.00 or so per nite---that was maybe 10 years ago. now they are $150.00. they claim to really like us coming to that show. Would they be more correct saying they really like our $$. prolly.
I should have read all of the responces before I posted. Here we have the obvious solution to the problem. We should all be proud of being a part of a group that has members with this mentality, and more so the gall (stupidity) to post it. Frank
hey sweet cheeks, belly up to the bar. you have been around here long enough. so suck it up. I move markets for a living. Capitalism sucks on occasion. Does not mean we have to like it.
Paid $80 a night for a motel room attached to the Greyhound buss depot in downtown Detroit in 1984, the week before it probably was $15.00 a night. The Greyhound Hilton was the only place for racestaff to stay for the F1 race that weekend. buy the way a 12oz glass of Cokeacola was $3.00. You don't want to know about rooms near Road America on big race weekends. jim h
I missed last years Hunnert, but NOT THIS ONE. Still pisses me off about the gouging, but I wiil be there. I was just blowing off a little steam. Later, Dick
Better to be pissed off than pissed on... I'll be there again, hopefully the venue is as fun as the past venue
The Pigeon Forge Rod Runs here in Tennessee are notorious for this crap. Room rates at some of these flea bags are $40 a night till the cars come to town. Right up to $150-175 a night. Some of them even require a 4 night minimum. Robbery!!!
