Well, I guess I'd have to measure but I think 18" would be around where I would want it. Not sure if 9" would enclose the tank. I'll let you know though, thanks!

Oh I also took ownership of a really nice 303 Olds over the weekend like I had said. It's actually in way better shape then I thought and the Hydro out back looks ok too! Perhaps this weekend I may go get the driveshaft and rear but that's going in my '54 so it does not pertain to this thread.

The 303 could either end up in my coupe or the roadster. If it ends up in my coupe, the 331 Hemi may find it's way to the roadster and that will just be ridiculous... but in a good way. This is all speculation as I have not the slightest clue to what it would take to put either of those engines between the rails on the roadster.

Sometimes I think I should just keep the 300 Buick because that was a pretty cool engine to run in the 60's as far as weight regulations go. I guess if you car ran under a certain weight it was exempt from fender rules and regulations and the Buick 215 and 300 were an engine that could get you under that weight. I think the "Torsion T" was one of the few cars that ran a small black chevy that came in under in weight.

  2. Looking forward to seeing those wheels on there!

  3. I love that little ****er...I liked it the way it was but definitely am on board with the updates/changes...

In my modified build, still in the parts collection stages, I, too, have looked at that Weesner pic a hundred times and thought how *****in that car would be. I've thought about building it. Make mine just like it. But it would always be "that car from that painting".

Personally, I like that car you got right there, just like that. But I know the feeling, just not quite yours.

Good luck and hope it all works out.

I have tried to look for the image but I am pretty sure it does not exist in digital format. I wonder if I should scan it or maybe PM Evel and see if he has it?

Anyways thanks for the cool responses. I think the car was cool before but after I shake it up a bit hopefully it will be less showie and more go-ie!!

I looked for an hour last night and couldn't find it. I was thinking Evel or Weez.

    Jeff,

Try and ask Evel for it, I can't find it, I don't think it ever got a name... My Swedish buddy Peder bought that and the Frankie on a bike one at the San Diego "Live Fast" a few years back, they kind of matched.

Can't wait for the new version! (The Monogram "Big Rod" is a good thing to check out for T ideas too) great rims and tires on that.

Thanks Weez, I did ask Evel for it but I am sure he is out in Austin living like a heathen so he does not have time for it. I wouldn't either if I was there already.

I may have to ask the guy that I sold the Radirs to if I can borrow them for the week because I am not sure that I will have the fronts in time which ****s because I have been working on those rears for a couple weeks trying to get them into shape. I see what I can do.

The car got tuned last night by ******knuckles and it seems to bee running better then ever with the new Carb, Fuel Pump, and new fuel line. Ron also bent up a cool hard line that follows the carb and stays out of sight sort of. Looks awesome and is a vast improvement over the red fuel line that had to snake it's way over the engine. I could not find another matching headlight reflector so I had to break out the cheap Chrome paint and lay down a good base so that the head lights match. Looks great actually.

New Temp gauge is on the menu for tonight as well as working on the wheels so I perhaps can get them mounted tomorrow.

Again thanks for the heads up Weez and I'll check out the Big Rod for some more ideas. See you guys in a week exactly!!!!

Alright small update until it back on the road. Still working on the wheels a little bit at a time when time allows. I have them sanded to 2000 grit and finally painted the centers. It's not the original color that I was looking for but I think it's comparable or better perhaps. I bought a simple can of duplicolor called Lt. Bronze Mist and the cap looked spot on for what the original color was. When I sprayed it it turned out to be a bit different but still cool. Here are some pics of a wheel from tonight after I took the masking off and stood it under a light. Once I get the wheels mounted to the Tires this weekend I am going to break out the mothers polish and ball and really see what these things look like after bringing them back from the dead.

This is what they originally looked like when I purchased them....

And now before a final polishing

Really happy with the way that they turned out and can't wait to see them shined up mounted in the slicks.

That brings me to the front. The day after I got home form the Roundup get what showed up at my door? The Long Awaited Chrome Steelies utilizing Original centers. I had the centers polished to match the rest of the wheel and I think they look nothing short of amazing. Really great work.

So I put them on and soon realized that the black snouts protruding through the centers was not going to cut it. I was not going to shell out the cash to chrome my whole brake drum so I had to make do. ENTER the can of chrome paint. Actually it turned out better then I thought. Now I need to find some chrome dust caps desperately...

    Masked and painted...

    Not too bad looking...

Next on my list is trying to find the correct lug nuts for front and back. For the front I am just going to go with 1/2" Chrome open ended Acorns from a local part store. The back I am having trouble with. I would like to find a open ended Mag style lug nut with the threaded shank and washer but I have not found the correct ones. I have been pouring over images of Old FED's and trying to nail exactly what they used down. That's my mission for this weekend at least. So wish me luck. Should have pics of the car with wheels mounted shortly.

Oh and here is the image of the painting that Weesner did for MFS. This was the inspiration for the transformation. Sorry about the bad pic I just took a pic of it instead of scanning it.

I am still waiting for you to head to Austin and measure yours. I am hot on the trail of getting some this weekend. If all else fails a stock cap chromed by a local will be my last option. Thanks!

Jeffery, Why did you have to show me pictures of chrome steels? I've been in love with those wheels for so long, I wish I'd bought them insteed of plain steels!I'm a BIG fan of the mixed/odd combo, works for me.Your ''T'' is gonna look the Business with them on!

I had to do it 60'shotrod!! If you don't like the black steelies I am sure those things would sell in a very short time and would fund your Chrome wheels. Wheelkid's chromer is the cat *** and they wheels look way better in person. It really does change the whole look.

I appreciate the compliments. All the encouraging words have been my main source of motivation on this thing. I hope I did not screw it up too much as compared to how it originally looked. Haha!!!

Making some caps of alum or stainless on the leth mybe a good way to go:cool:
Now and then you may find something that is aready very close in size, like fencepost caps or stainless cups at the store, take a look around near ya,and some shiny caps maybe right there were ya didn't see them before.Something that canbe adjusted and polished just a little to work.
    Cool rod and getting cooler!

Other wheel is done and should have the tires mounted tomorrow morning. I did get some lug nuts tonight but they ended up being the wrong size as far as shank length so I am going to return those and get some new ones. Should have and updated pic tomorrow if I don't try to weld up the exhaust while the car is off it's feet.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new wheels in place, I run mismatched wheels on my T, some get it but most don't.

I know I said a couple days but the Lug Nuts have been giving me hell. I bought some on friday and they ended having a short shank which was not going to work. The I went to my last option before ordering them and they did not have any.

I got the wheel mounted in the tires and all balance up. They are looking even better then I expected and I now feel like the car is my own. I also feel like I have a car that wasn't just built 10-12 years ago but one that might have been around in the early-mid 60's which tells me that I hit my mark.

I may go tonight and get longer wheel studs so that I have a bit more thread to bite into as far as Lug nuts go. I should have the pics by the end of the work week. Thanks for checking in!!!

Also exhaust is welded up so at least that should be back on the car tonight and looking alright.

    She's Back!!!!

Alright after a couple months of sanding and grinding on the wheels off and on and dismounting and mounting the tires a couple of times she is back on the road. We will call this Phase 1 and it's complete. Wheels are sanded and painted and mounted on the OG 60's recaps that were on the car when the Radirs were mounted. Exhaust is welded up from when it cracked coming back from Austin and she's purring like a kitten.

Here are some glamor shots of the impudent little lady.

So now that Phase 1 is finished I plan on driving it the rest of the summer and not ****ing with it too much. If I get a chance there are a few small things but next winter I might hit up a few bigger issues such as

    -Chromed Front end
    -Chromed Roll Bar
    -Panel Pinstriping
    -Engine Rebuild
-Pickup Bed? Not sure on that one though
-New Exhaust (Chromed hopefully) with the same style but maybe utilizing Model A torque tube for the main pipes.
    -Column mounted Sun Tach.
-Having the Weez do a original Painting of this car!!!:D:D:D

Thanks guys for keeping up with the thread.
