ladies and gentlmen, I’d like to discuss what is normally omitted or glanced over. I know most people are concerned over the “tricked out” new tool boxes of the judgment of how many you have or do not have. I’d like to take a second and reflect, for me personally there is just a feeling I get when I reach for that tool from a box that I know versus one that is brand new, I don’t know if maybe I’m weird but when I reach into the shops box it feels...clinical, almost as if there is no meaning, just like “it’s just another job” where if I’m home and I reach for that ‘custom’ distributor wrench and it almost feels personal...I don’t think there is much discussion over it almost as if it is taboo, but for me personally it means everything. It doesn’t help me turn wrench, nor does it make me any smarter. What it does for me is it just feels RIGHT! There is just a connection there. To the point that I’ve been away from my folks for over a decade now they’ve decided to move and my old man told me that if I wanted his old rollaway I needed to come home and visit...needless to say I have the reservations, the trip planned, savings augmented etc. that one box has so many memories, not all of them triumphs...matter of fact most of them not, however the fact remains that is MY inheritance, and nobody else has a right. Nobody talks about the emotions behind a box, and I figured of all people, those here supporting the ORIGINAL hot rod culture would understand/sympathize with the meaning of a “simple” tool box
To note ladies and gentlemen, you will see my post above note the passion I have for this community of all things automotive and wrenching....and then note that I have claimed a ‘79 DATSUN 280ZX as my car. I will not apologize for this, not will I make excuses. This is a car that has finally shown my wife the “light” the beauty of a vehicle that you can be proud of. Mind you she (the car not my lady) is not a “ricer” she does not have “stance” this is a vehicle that I have put time in, I have sweated and cried and bled and cussed over ( I am****uming you all have done the same if not more) just to keep her as stock as possible while modifying her for comfort without the stance without the shame without the judgment and finally without the blame, you guys may or may not know about a lot of the import world but to put it in perspective for those of you who may not know a “ZX” for a “Z” fanboy is the difference between a stocker body and a Hemi Cuda for the Mopar guys the “ZX” being good for nothing other than the drivetrain. I love traditional hot rods and am currently saving up for my first true rod, I just hope I am not judged for the fact that I have only put an import on my profile but as I have stated before I have PASSION for automotive and especially for true hot rods
Don't worry about trying to fit in. Just be you. Don't worry what another think, that time you spend on doubt will be lost time and wasted time. I understand you and other here have thier dad's and grandfathers tools. Take this time that you don't have a old car to read and understand the most you can and respect those as you learn. And just being real No body on here will ever really care about foreign cars but I get how u bonded with the ability to maintain and learn off your Nissan. We just have that experience with American cars. What's a "true hotrod" in your eyes? What draws you to a site like this? Sent from my SM-J727T1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
my dream build is strangely enough wagons ideally a 60-61 Valiant I’ve always liked them and I have seen some killer examples of them, it might not be terribly old but I really like the lines of them and they also happen to be closer in reach than a 55 nomad wagon. As for vintage tool box thread, Well now I know thank you.
Yea, like it kind of doesn't even fit the time frame cut off date of 1964, make, or anything. Were they even imported prior to 1964?
I just like naked*****S with drinking and drug problems. Writing is for people that have too fat of fingers to play the guitar.. I make pipelines and engineering decisions now for a living. Have a great day friend.
Germ, talk about some*****in dime stacks My brother the pipe-liner would say "slicker than**** on a gold tooth" Carry on...
