Coupester or are we looking at a Cabriolet?

 

not sure what that one pictured is, but mine is most definitely a coupster. cabriolet has lots of differences I have found over the years... not the least of which are door hinges, dimension, and no reveal on the quarter panel where it runs along side the deck lid. i now have the "option" to buy the united pacific panels to make it a "real" 5 window again... to the tune of $8,000+ in panels... for now she's staying as a early custom look with a lift off carson top.

When I was invited to the Lions Dragstrip Museum opening at the Price Transfer Automobilia Complex in June, I remember seeing a ton of Willys coupes, pickups, sedans, convertible, a woody and sedan deliveries from 1933 to 41. One of the Willys looked like it rolled right off of the pit return road into this museum. The Rieker Automotive Willys had the look of the gas coupes from the 60’s.

No one I talked to had any information on the motor, builder, driver, race car status,etc. I took some photos and moved on to the rest of the Willys cars located here. Then online, I saw some photos taken at what looked like a rod run and show. So, this Willys must be a race car rebuilt for the street?

The motor had the look of the mid 60’s with all of the racecar goodies from that time period. It was well built and looked pretty cool. Any info?

Two four's, Offy 360 on a scream'n 283 does it for me! I know, I know, the throttle return spring brackets ****, I'm gonna fix that. ;-)

Not sure where I found this photo.....
I could see a couple of 660 center squirters on it or a pair of 600s with vacuum secondaries on it....
It be fun trying to make it work on the street with lots of "fine tuning"......

It was a local car and I don’t think it was done for any performance reasons. More likely for those valuable show points.
