Uses Saganaw 3 speed gears and reverse. I think the case was manufactured by Offenhauser. Uses a 38 Chevy cover. I have one in my #45 supermodified. Milled off the rear housing and used a doubled sheild bearing. Shortened the tail shaft to use a Ford 42-47 P U rear end yoke and 42 and later 3/4 ton Ford open driveshaft. I used a large tube for a safety shield. The next vintage race car I build build will have a closed drive line. Sprint car style made with early Chevy parts and a Ford splined U-joint.
Man. You guys with machine tools. You don't have to be nearly as concerned with what fits/works as the rest of us do. You just make it fit/work.
That was going to be my question as I looked at your pics. Having experienced a driveshaft explosion I was happy my shield held together.
Whats worse is having a mill ,lathe combo and not knowing how to use it. At least I look impressive when in shop.
