    That's a great ad Lou!
"Handsome as a car, useful as a truck"
That's how I felt about my 65 ElCamino, though it was 50 years ago, I do miss it.

    Shameless repeat, factory 327/4speed.

The black aluminum canopy did kill some of the beautiful lines of the body, it did fill many utilitarian needs though, made for a great "grocery getter" on rainy days, also used it for fishing and camping.

I love it. With or without the camper shell. Almost better with cuz no one's gonna steal it when you're sleeping back there. When's the last time you could take anything with a 327 and a 4-speed camping.

Fishing story alert, may be a repeat!
One of my fondest memories as to how well this car served me was a Steelhead fishing trip to Oregons' famous coastal stream the Nestucca river.
My fishing buddy and I headed west after work, had driven about 75 miles, some at highway speeds and on some pretty sketchy gravel mountain roads, about ten miles from our planned camp the steering wheel started shaking and was nearly pulled out of my hands on the washboard gravel road, on investigation found the idler arm had seperated. No parts stores for 50 miles, no tools, not even bailing wire and being the late 70's, no cel phones.
Ended up wrapping a steel fish stringer around the idler arm and not only did it hold till we parked but it got us all the way back home.
    Yeah, I miss that ElCamino!

Always wished I had found a 65 L79 ElCamino when they were still affordable.
    Check out this beauty.

Bought this one from a former student after he pulled the big block. Had "sewer rat" rattle canned on the front fenders.
