Brought a pile of parts over to Joey last night. Got an A body Mopar steering box and a 46 ish wheel from @Tim I had the ring and button from a swap meet from Jimmy years ago. Plus a pile of little stuff needed to make it a “car”

    Lets play "before and after"

First I finally got my bench cleaned off for the first time since before I started this project.

We'll get back to that, but in the meantime, here's part of what I cut out of the front crossmember.

The "before" has a leaf spring welded into the spring pocket.

    And now the after.

Much better. much less chance of death.

And with Austin's aforementioned parts delivery, I got the right rear wheels stuck on the chassis.

    Looks much better.

And now the after on the bench.

    Till next time!

Looking forward to the next steps.

Is that steering box aluminum? Seemed like it might be. Bet @Bandit Billy would have it polished up enough to get your eye balls sun burnt lol

A body Mopar steering box? What advantage does it have over cross steering and where is it mounted?

@coupe33 its the box the majority of people use to get cowl steering. Bolt it to an under cowl hoop generally.

as far as why he got one, he needed a steering box upgrade from a model A box and it was available.

as far as why not cross steering? Because the car is already set for side steer and he wants to keep it that way.

but wait til you guys see what’s next!

Short update, got the center crossmember donut made for the driveshaft pass through, and installed it into the crossmember enough to create an idea of floor clearance.

rolled it outside to lift the body on.

we stuck the body on once mike arrived, and I cut the floor to fit the driveshaft tunnel.

We then attempted to use the 33 hood that Austin had, to mock up the grille, and found that to be impossible to fit to the 34.

so we decided for now it will be hoodless.

so of course we mocked it up with my 4 carb weiand manifold...

and that's all I've got for this week. tune in next time!

    it was free.

that's it, literally the only reason we are even attempting it.

Otherwise I probably wouldn't bother since its HUGE.

And absolutely no vision to change lanes at 65 MPH on a busy freeway with semi trucks around you. Scary as fuck. Ask me how I know. Good luck. I like it! Mines only 5 1/2 inches. Can I interest you in a life insurance policy! Ha! 289644323_10159019050464397_4552379940317806353_n.jpg

The guys are still in a mad thrash. Joey is off to Mcphail’s shindig so between that little trip and the pace they are keeping up I wouldn’t expect an update for a little while. But they are stoking the hot rod fires to quite a glow!

You may have to go OT and use a camera system like is advertised for some of the new trucks.
