Hey, how do you have room under there for a battery. My frame is about 7" tall along that area and I didn't think I could do it. Dig the leather belt too!

  2. Thanks Cuz!

That quote from Hambandy rules, btw!
Hey BE. My frame also measures about 7" and the battery is flush with the bottom of the frame. I really wanted it there so it had to fit! Hopefully the belt will stay together. It wouldn't fit around my fat arse anymore, haha!

  3. I looked a little locally for some flanges for my Fentons. It did not occur to me to ask Patrick about them ('cause Ima dumbass) so I made my own.

I bought a box of bends from a catalog to assemble some sort of exhaust system. I haven't decided exactly what I am going to do yet so this is as far as I've gone with this.

The battery does mount under the passenger side floor board along the frame rail from the factory but maybe the batteries were smaller back then being 6 volt? My frame has the stock battery tray mounted, if you want me to I will post some pictures and take some measurements. Keep up the good work!

  5. The inner fenders were originally attached to the fenders themselves. Since I am not running fenders, I had to attach to the frame. I ended up bending some 20ga strips to get the panels to sit out where they fit/ looked the best.

I tapped the frame for some 1/4"-20 truss head screws and crossed it off the list.

  6. Sorry for all the close together updates. I am trying to get caught back up...

I had the radiator recored a couple of years ago but had to take it back in to rework the lower outlet. While it was there,I went ahead and had them convert it to a pressure cap and block off the original fill.

I like the looks of the original cap so I made a plate to statically mount it to the shell.

While the shell was out, I decided to go ahead and tackle the rusty insert.

*I am having trouble loading pictures now so I'll try again later*

    Thanks for looking everyone

  7. The insert metal is super thin so I figured media blasting was off the table. I decided to try the vinegar route after some initial experiments on some "lesser" parts.

I built a box and let her rip. A few days later, I had a non-rusty insert. Sweet!

Impressive. Just normal white or brown vinegar you get at the supermarket?

  10. Thats some funny shit right there!

  11. Haha! Do you really like it or are you just jerkin' my gherkin!!?

On a more serious note, yes GJ, white vinegar from the grocery $1.59 a gallon.

  12. What is this vinegar trick, straight vinegar, or mixed with water?

  13. Straight up sucka!

  14. Well, I must say, I'm totally ashamed of myself, I've been watching this thread since the beginning and haven't post one damn thing. I spent the weeeeeeee hours of this morning and have just finished reading every last post, now I need a nap. All joking aside, I'm just blown away with your eye for detail and your quality of craftsmanship. Mike, damn, now I'm going to rethink about some of the crap I've done to my coupe, great, now I'm going to start all over again. I think I should finish by the year 2020, hope my paint hasn't dried up in the can by then.
There are so many thing about your build I don't know where to start so I'm just going to say WOW.
Take care and tell the wifey I said hey.

  15. Jeez Gary, your are gonna make me blush . Thanks for checking in a taking the time to comment. Your project is one of many that I look to for inspiration here on the board. Don't change a thing!
I can't wait to see your coupe in paint. That color will rule! We can line 'em up at MoKan next year (I don't think mine will be painted yet, but dammit , it will run!)

Thanks again, and emily says "hi!" back.

  16. I know I am kind of beating a dead horse on this grille thing ,but here's more anyway.

I have the original chin panel but it was going to need so much modification that I decided it would be easier to start fresh.

The hole is so I can get to my spring mount without taking the grille assembly off.

Eventually, the whole truck will get painted, but for now I just cleaned up the inside and put it back together.

Man this truck is gonna be a cool little ride soon! Hope to run into ya one day to check it out in person. Keep it up

  20. Thanks Ben! You guys have some pretty neat Chevys in the stable as well!

  21. While everything is still together, I went ahead and figured out my collectors. I think from here I'll get them down where I want them and add another flange to hook up the rest.

I'm thinking I'll run a straight pipe that exits just behind the cab parallel with the frame on the inside, but I dunno yet?

  23. You ain't helping me by posting these pictures! I have resigned myself to building with my Rams horns BUT making room for the Fentons down the line ;)

  24. Thanks! I'm diggin' that '35!

    HaHa! Sorry bro! :)

  25. So, this is how she looked last weekend. I have been trying to address all of the little things that need to be figured out while it is all still together. Really, I have been putting off taking it all apart...

  26. Blow it apart and get on with it, you only live once!

  27. As of tonight, it looks like this. Poor thing got skinned alive!

I have all sorts of welds to finish up on the cab structure and floor framing. Once i get it down to the chassis, I may try to map out the rest of the exhaust.

My plan is to get all the chassis work finished and painted and paint all of the inner and under body work. I'd like to get it on the road and address the body later.

Looks great, I know what you're saying about taking everything apart. I have to do the same with mine. It kind of seems like you're going backwards seeing it all ripped apart.
